Pregancy question..Please help!

How soon can you see the heartbeat on an ultra sound? I need to know this because they didnt mention anything to me at the doc tuesday and they told me if I was further along than about 7 weeks that the baby is very small and has quit growing but if I was only around 4/5 weeks that everything looked fine...but they didnt mention anything about the heartbeat and I was wondering how soon can you see the heartbeat on and ultrasound monitor?

ummmmmm depends they were shocked that they heard aj when i was 10 weeks they told me usually you couldnt hear it with that doppler thingy til about 12 weeks.

What kind of ultrasound did they do? Internal or external?

They done an internal one..But I dont see how I could possible be any further along than around 4 weeks or so at the most.....

I think with my 2nd daughter I was about 6 weeks and they did an internal one and we could see the heart beating away! Could hear it with the doppler thing when I was about 9 weeks with all my girls.

I had an internal one done at 6 weeks when we found out we were having twins. We could hear the hearts beating then. I've heard that the heart starts beating at 21 days (3 weeks) after conception.

It really varies on where the little babe is at - the earliest I every went to a doctor for all of my pregancies was 8 weeks along - so I heard the heart then - but on one pregnancy at 12 weeks along they could not find one - and finally did a quick u/s and it was all good.

Ask your o.b. before you get upset...If you can't get thru to him/her, than ask to speak to the nurse and have her explain what is going on. Rely on professionals for these sorts of questions hun so you can get the right answers!!:) :D ;) :p :cool: :eek:

I just heard the heartbeat for the first time Monday. I am 13 1\2 weeks. I saw the doctor at 10 1\2 weeks and he said he didn't think we would be able to hear it yet. At 13 1\2 weeks it was not easy to find and very faint. It was done externally. Hope everything is alright with you and baby.

Usually at 10 weeks. You can see it on an ultrasound, however, without actually hearing it, earlier than that. It is the most awesome sound in the world and one I will never forget.... Good Luck!
