I am doing a presentation tomorrow on The American Dream. It's 15 minutes and I'm taking about 5 minutes to summarize The Great Gatsby and Of Mice and Men and this reoccuring them. BUT for the rest of the time, I need to do some type of interactive activity with the students on this topic. I NEED IDEAS!! I'm completely lost.
An idea suggested to me was to pick several celebrities (business, entertainment, humanitarian, etc...) and debate with the class whether they have achieved the American Dream and who has achieved the American Dream to its fullest.
BUT this may not work if the students are not very enthusiastic about debating. Is there any other ideas? I know they like to do lists, decipher things (like guess the meaning of something, etc.), draw, etc.
*sigh* How did I ever get stuck with this?
