We did it, it actually happened...

we closed on our first house today!!! As the person running the closing stated when the last paper was signed, we're "homeloaners"!

And now the fun begins...the cleaning and painting and decorating. I can't wait to get started. Today we didn't get to do much, but we did pick out carpeting for a few rooms. I'M SO EXCITED I could just burst!

When Chuckles and I bought our first house, it cost less than my car did. Payments were $71 a month for a 2 bedroom, full basement, with garage on a half acre lot.

OMG, $71 a month for mortgage payments on a 2 BR w/full basement & garage on a 1/2 acre?? Those must have been the days! Let's just say we're paying a far cry more than that!

Thanks for the congrats everyone! I appreciate it. We've been renting a house for 5 years now and I haven't met too many people in the area yet. I'm hoping that might change in the new neighborhood (of course, neighborhoods ain't what they were back when I was a kid). It may be hard to believe since I"m such a loudmouth here sometimes, but I'm really shy in person.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone! I'm still having trouble believing it's actually ours.

I'm exhausted, I should be asleep but my mind is still racing. We spent the day buying paint & all the supplies that go with it and then cleaning & taping the house to prep for painting. I think we should be ready to paint tomorrow. I can't wait until we have it all clean & painted so we can start moving our stuff in. Then maybe the reality of it will sink in - that it's really OURS!
