In what order do you wear your wedding set?

Engagement ring on first and then the band or the band on first and the engagement ring? What is the "proper" way. I prefer wedding band on first and the engagement band..what about you?

I wear my band on first, THEN the engagement ring. I have always heard that you wear the wedding band closest to your heart.

engagement ring then wedding band,,I think it is all up to the person,I use to wear it the other way,but I changed it when I got my new Diamond...put the wedding band on last so I won`t lose my Diamond..LOL

I have mine anniversary band *cuz that's the only way it fits* and since mine is a set that intertwines I guess you would call it, it's 1/2 and 1/2. LOL

Well I guess my wedding ring is on the bottom for the most part.

Maybe I should just post a pic since this makes no sense. LOL

mine are soldered together but right now wedding band is first. I rotate every year on my ann. so I don't hve to have the diamond retipped so often.

A: First of all, I wanted to explain why the "ring finger" is in fact the "ring finger":

The western tradition of the "ring finger" began with the Greeks, who believed that the fourth finger was connected directly to the heart by a vein called "the vein of love." The fourth finger of the left hand has been adopted through the ages as the ideal place for the wedding ring for this reason.

Now as far as a correct way to wear a wedding and engagement band. Here's what I found:

Generally the bride gets a ring "set" meaning an engagement ring and wedding band that go together and are worn on the ring finger. But if you and your groom choose wedding bands that do not go with the engagement ring it is perfectly acceptable to wear your engagement ring on your right hand (that's what I do) or not wear it at all! Some women, especially those with active lifestyles, find that the traditional prong-set solitaire can catch on clothes and getting scuffed. To avoid losing or damaging their ring, they opt to wear only the wedding band every day, saving the engagement ring for special occasions. When and how you wear your rings is entirely up to you.

Now as far as wearing the engagement ring and wedding band on the same finger, there also seems to be no rule as to which ring is first or second on your finger, it is a matter of taste.

This is what I've always heard also. It's the way I wear mine too, and mine look better this way also. My engagement ring is heart shaped & fits into the wedding band, so the heart looks upside-down if I don't put the wedding ring on 1st.

when I wore two rings...it was wedding band, then engagement ring.

But a few years ago I had a new ring... It has a large center diamond with three rows of 15 smaller diamonds on each side. So..I'm wearing one large ring on my left hand and my anniversary ring on my right hand.

However, our 25th anniversary is this year so I want a new ring...the one with three diamonds (yesterday, today, tomorrow). I will wear that on my right hand and have my anniversary ring sized down for my pinkie.

Can you tell that I like diamonds...LOL...

Wedding band first, then engagement ring.

Every time the rings come off for repair, cleaning, surgieries, etc. my DH insists on putting them back on my finger ... he's a true romantic! 32 years and counting!!

Right now, I'm only wearing the wedding band. But usually I put the engagement first then the band. I'm always worried that the diamond would fall off, so I wear it like that for protection.

Ladies, be sure you have your stones checked every few years. The tips holding the stones in do wear away and you'll lose your diamonds. I've had to have mine retipped about every 7 years.

mine is one of those drop in ones..the kind that you put the engagement ring in the center...but I have two other wedding bands that I wear first then the set.(hubby kept losing his so we had to get new ones, thus the 2 bands)

I wear them when we go anywhere but I take my rings off when I get home. Don't like to do housework with them on.

IselaRose--don't keep your good jewelry in your jewlery box. First place a robber will look or take if you are burgeled. Learned that from my friend. She lost her diamond ring but they didn't take her hubby's since he kept his in was in a cup in the kitchen. Find a weird place to keep it if you don't have it on your finger. Same with your other good jewelry. Keep your costume jewelry in your jewelry box.
