Remember a while back when there was a link to the site for a form to fill out...this is on our local news today:
CD Settlement
(Portland, Maine-AP) -- Consumers who applied for a share of a music C-D price-fixing settlement could be in for some money. If a judge signs off on the deal, the music buyers will receive about 12 dollars, 60 cents apiece. About three and a-half (m) million U-S residents who purchased music between 1995 and 2000 registered for claims by last week's deadline. Claimants would split 44 (m) million dollars allocated for individual claims. The lawsuit, signed by the attorneys general of 40 states and consolidated in Portland, Maine, accuses major record labels and large music retailers facing competition from discount retailers like Target and Wal-Mart of conspiring to set minimum music prices. Defendants Sony Music Entertainment, E-M-I Music Distribution, Warner-Elektra-Atlantic, Universal Music Group and Bertelsmann Music Group, as well as retailers Tower Records, Musicland Stores and Trans World Entertainment -- have denied any wrongdoing.
