Hello! I am the Vacation Bible School Director at my church this year and was wondering if you all could list some fundraising ideas that you know of. All ideas welcome! Think of things your kids have done at school, church, scouts, brownies, 4-h, or any other organizations to help raise money. Thanks a Million to all who respond! :) :) ;) :) :)

Car wash, yard sale, bake sale..
How about having the older children with adult supervision host a "Parents night out" where they charge to babysit have movies games etc for the kids, I'm sure alot of parents would like this
Silent chinese auction??
My daughters Pre-School did a 50/50 drawing. They sold raffle tickets and the winner got 1/2 the money they'd collected. It went over very well!

What Nikkole said! Our Girl Scout Troop does a rummage sale/bake sale every summer. We do very well on it. My kids' old school does a silent auction that makes a fortune. Plant sales are great (Home Depot usually will donate the flowers). Craft sales ( my Girl Scout troop did one of these in the fall and did well the crafts don't have to be fancy and you could always do this along with a rummage sale). My dot's class sold cookie mixes and soups in jars at Christmas (we all donated all the items) and they did well with that.
Carnivals are good money makers. But, you have to put money into them to make money. Oriental Trading has inexpensive little prizes and you can make your own games. Also, if you have an Old Country Buffet in your area they offer their mascot to come out to events and entertain (it is a guy in a Bee costume) and he brings free meal coupons and stuff for the kids.
Good luck!

Usually in early spring our men in the church will set up several dates for people to come up to the church parking lot and they will do oil changes, the teens do car wash and have bake sale. They just take donations for the oil changes ( they bring their own oil ) raised a lot of money that way and it also helps the elderly so they don't have to go very far or pay an arm and a leg for an oil change.
We have also sold cookbooks, 2 year planners and have one weekend a year before bible school that people set up tables and have huge yard sale and donate the money to the teens for their trips, bible school etc.
Good Luck.

My schools Color Guard team had a rummage sale- everyone brings in stuff the don't need to sell... they made $106 last week- and almost twice that last January. There are all kinds of fundraiser companys out there, See's candy does it- some places have good profits, but others you don't make much...
You could also see if your group qualifys for E-scrip- not sure if they would, but worth a try. http://www.escrip.com

Leadie, try talking to your local Home & Garden Party or Home Interiors rep. They usually have candle fundraiser stuff :) Hope that helps :)

Our school is doing a spaghetti feed tonight. We have also done chili nights. These usually make quite a bit of money. You can get most of the food donated. Last year, we had a photographer come and do pics (like FBH was talking about) we got a cut of the money they made and it was a lot!
Or an ice cream social once it gets a little warmer. Those are usually a lot of fun.
For any kind of food event, contact all of your local groceries, Sam's Clubs, Costco's (if you have them), your local Coca Cola distributor, Walmart, and anyone else you can think of and ask for donations. They are usually really good about helping out.

Do you have a souplantation near you? Are school sports boosters do this, and they make some good money-
http://www.souplantation.com/Community/events.asp
Who qualifies?
Charities, churches, schools, swim teams, scout troops, and other organizations considered to be non-profits by the IRS may apply for a “Fun-Raiser” event.
We can help your non-profit group raise money through a “Fun-Raiser” event held on-site at one of our restaurants. All your group members have to do is enjoy a great meal at Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes on a designated night and 20% of your event sales will be donated to your organization.

When DH was little they used to have a cookbook put out by the youth group. All the adults would send in their favorite recipes and they would compile them and print them up. This used to pay for their bike trips. They lived in Ohio and they rode bikes to Maine one year. He is 33 and still talks about that trip.
