Too often we don't realize
what we have until it is gone;
Too often we wait too late to say
"I'm sorry - I was wrong."
Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones
we hold dearest to our hearts;
And we allow foolish things
to tear our lives apart.
Far too many times we let
unimportant things into our minds;
And then it's usually too late
to see what made us blind.
So be sure that you let people know
how much they mean to you;
Take that time to say the words
before your time is through.
Be sure that you appreciate
everything you've got
And be thankful for the
Little things in life
that mean a lot.
I couldn't say it better, life is just too short to let the petty stuff get in the way, to not give a smile when someone is down, to not be there to listen, to "not have enough time".
I appreciate all my friends and feel very blessed to have them in my life. Just never forget to say or do the "little things" that mean so much!

Beautiful poem, when was in 7th grade I had gotten mad at a girl who was in with a group of girls making fun of me, the next day Friday I saw a friend a girl who was just with them leaning up against the wall of the building, I went over and apoligized and told her I hoped she knew that those mean angry words were not meant for her, she said of course she did and was not mad at me at all and she was sorry her friends were acting that way. While she was talking I could see that she was coughing and having trouble breathing, it was one of those early spring days when the wind was strong and cold and would nearly take your breath away, why the teachers who had bus duty made us go outside I don't know. I went and asked them if she could go inside and they said yes but she was scared she would miss her bus, I begged her to go inside it was so clear to me she was really sick, I told her I would send someone in after her and I would not let the driver leave without her but she said no, insisting she was sure she was going to be ok and didn't want anyone to make any kind of fuss over her. I felt so bad for her since she even had quite a walk to her house when she got off the bus. That weekend passed quickly, all of us kids had gotten to Sunday school early we were all standing around the old wooden heater trying to warm ourselves when one of the adults said what a shame it was that the girl had died of pneumonia that very afternoon after getting home from school, her mother had rushed her to the ER but it was too late. I've always been so glad that I apoligized and that we parted friends that day.

Death changes your perspective, doesn't it? That was beautiful Mesue. Thank you for sharing your humanity with us. And thank you Ladytiger for a lovely poem . . .
