Is ther anything you can do to control a dogs odor? Our cocker spaniel always smells so bad. I gave him a good bath last week but within a couple of days he started smelling really bad again. He is smelling up the whole house. Usually it is a sign that his ears are infected but his ears are fine now. Thanks for any advice!!!

I use baby shampoo on my dogs but as soon as they go outside in the rain...yep you guessed it..The rancid wet dog smell. I love the smell of the shampoo my vet uses. Wished I could afford it! They smill great for a week! I have a different problem with My chihuahua, Dogzilla, has a$$ breath, as I call it! Eww its horrible!! I think I like the smell of wet dog better than I do her breath!

I gotta cocker too and she's a stinky little thing. If his ears are fine, I would suggest maybe some kind of doggie deo. I always like it when mine comes from the groomer. She smells so nice. Maybe your groomer can recommend a deo.

i think i saw some doggie deo at the pet store the other day. try petsmart or petco. if nothing else, I bet ferret-smell-good (yes, that is what it's called) would help. It worked for frank. If it can control ferret odor, dog odor probably does not stand a chance. The ferret smell good was about $6 a bottle.

I use a groomer-quality oatmeal shampoo and my dogs rarely get that doggy funk. (When they do, it's bath time again!) I have been told that human shampoos, even baby shampoo, is really bad for their skin and fur. Most of my dogs are pitbulls, so they are predisposed to skin conditions. We try to stay a step ahead of it! As for the breath and the farts, we don't have to deal with either of those things because we don't feed commercial dog food. (RAW diet only) My dogs teeth are all glowing white, and they never have doggy breath. Their breath is actually sweet. The only time we ever have a fart problem with them is if someone, (MOM) sneaks them commercially made "doggy treats". We try to keep our homemade treats handy so she's not tempted.

I found doggy mints at Target that work wonders on nasty breath. My mini-daschund used to have the worst breath ever!!

My Mom has a sticky cocker too!! HAHAHAHAHHA
The Vet gives her yeast-infection controlling cream his nose & his ears are what get bad- I guess it's just common among the breed!
Find a nice inexpensive groomer and keep some baby wipes (those are good for ears too if they just need a light cleaning):D
