At the end of last year, a lot of things happened at once. I ended up not doing a lot of stuff I normally do on the internet: talk to friends over AIM, post on boards, sell and buy on boards, and all that normal stuff that used to be everyday routine for me.
It started out with finals for college. My computer teacher had the class (small as it was) each make an interactive CD in the program Authorware. I only took that class for fun, so imagine my shock when I realized what I had to do. I pulled an all nighter the last night trying to get it perfect, which never happened. I received an A in the class so I'm still thrilled about that! I waited a bit too long to do my research paper in English 1B, but it still turned out very well I think, though the teacher never told me my grade. I ended up getting a B in that class, two points away fron an A (the teacher was out to get me. I did just as well as my sister and she got an A). Math was an easy one (it was all review) and Japanese was easy to pass too (the teacher let us use notes).
After that, Christmas smacked me in the face. I had been making gifts for my family since October, but I was still short many gifts by the middle of December (classes ended the week before Christmas). I have a huge family, so I should have realized I would be coming up short.
Well, my grandmother ended up getting sick December 15th. She was in a rest home and no one knew what was wrong with her. She was in a lot of pain. It turned out she had a blockage in her intestines. When she was admitted into the hospital a few days after the 15th, they also discovered that her colon cancer was back, said she had a hernia, and they also said her intestine was inflamed and bleeding that was caused by a flu bug that irritated her. It took them forever to diagnose what was wrong. She had surgery to take out the cancer which was blocking her intestine and they put it back together. She was never really "with it" after the surgery. They also think she had a stroke because she had trouble talking (part was due to the medicine as well). She was almost never alone. Everyone made sure she was covered night and day. She probably had less than two hours to herself since she was admitted to the hospital.
The home grandma was staying at called on January 6th and told us Grandma's roommate, Carol, passed away. A couple days before my mom had told her that she didn't think Grandma was going to make it out of the hospital. Aunt Martha thinks she died of a broken heart because our family was really the only ones who visited with her because someone was there every day from my family, except for an occasional neighbor of hers.
The hospital kicked Grandma out on January 14th because of insurance. She was placed in a different rest home. January 15th at 8:10AM, Grandma passed away. Aunt Mary was with her. She said it was very peaceful. It was like all other breaths and that was it. Her funeral was held on the 18th. I made everyone a hanky out of a housedress she loved to wear. Everyone recognized the pattern, even her son who rarely saw her. She was 76 years old. Here is her obituary:

My sister and I wrote a little something and had the preacher read it at the ceremony. We also wrote her letters and slipped them in her purse, which was buried with her. Grandma's dog had been put to sleep about a year or two ago (I was there when it happened) and grandma wanted her cremated. We tucked her ashes in with Grandma. It was really hard for me to see my Mom at the funeral because she has been taking care of her since the end of my junior year of high school. All of a sudden it was over and it took a bit for it to sink in because she's the first person who I was close to that died. Grandma never found out Carol passed away.
The day Grandma died we were supposed to register for the spring semester of college. Dawn called the school and they said it was all right if we went another day, so we went on Friday. The classes I'm taking: Algebra (with the same teacher as last semester because I love him so much), Introduction to Administration of Justice, Community Relations: Diversity and Discrimination, and my political science class, American Institutions. School started last Monday. My schedule is arranged where I have Friday's off (yay! hehe).
My family ended up getting in a financial crunch because of us having to pay for college. We sent off for our scholarships that we won to help pay for school, but those still won't do much. I also found out yesterday that my dad is getting a $2 an hour paycut. The plant he works for decided they won't give extra pay to the lead men now, so he is turning in his phone and whatnot because he doesn't need the extra stress for no pay. He did a lot of good for them and they just screwed him over. So my sister and I found out that today was free fixed price day and posted a ton of stuff on eBay. We're crossing our fingers that even a few things that we posted sells because we're going to give the money to Mom and Dad to help out. (Username titancia if you're interested).
Since Grandma is gone, my parents want to move to Redding. We were going to move to Bakersfield, buy my Dad's parents are no longer able to make the move, so we're going to go be closer to them instead. We're looking at houses that have a mother-in-law house behind them so my sister and I can live seperately. We have a realtor coming on Monday to check out the house. She wants to shoot for Spring since that is the top dollar, prim buying season, but mom is shooting for Summer. My sister and I have also started walking every morning for 20-30 minutes to help with our weight. And I think I'm getting a crush on my math teacher too lol.
Anywho, that's about all that has happened with me since I left, though I'm leaving a bunch out (like the stuff that went on behind the scenes, like Aunt Mary accusing Mom of trying to murder grandma and Uncle George burning anything he can get his hands on -even pillows-because he freed up the fire place, or my friend Jodi that had her baby girl, Isara, a few days before Christmas). I didn't mean for it to get so long and exhaustive! You don't have to read it all, it just feels good to let ya'll know why I've been MIA! I've missed you all so much and I'm glad to be back!
