I need help on a job

What is a Database analyst? What are the job duties?


I am looking at a job advertised in the paper at the school I attend. It is for a Database Analyst. The education requirements are a two year degree in Computer Science and 2 yrs experience OR, instead of the two years experience, a Networking Certification.

I have the Associates Degree in Computer Science and will be getting my Cisco networking cert this Firday, if I dont choke again. I just need to know what in the WORLD is a Database Analyst? To my way of thinking, someone with a degree in DATABASE would be right for the job, right? NOT someone with a Networking Certification. So now I am very confused.

I'm sure they would tell you more about the job if you call and ask for a description. I have done this before going to interviews. I tell them honestly on the phone that I don't want to waste their time or my time. "Database analyst" can mean a number of things. Where I work someone with this title supports databases and creates them. They also have to support their own servers with the databases they've created. Good luck on your test and finding a job you love! :)

Ok, I found out today this is a Network Administrator job. They mis-labled it. They are turning Database Administrators away left and right. I think I can do this. I know a few other people who are applying, so I probably wont get the job, but you never know.
