HELP! my very independent child will be 3 in 3 weeks and he wants to dress himself, well fine, great, I don't even care if he matches(he usually doesn't) what ticks me off is he ALWAYS puts his shirt on upside down! doesn't matter if it's a pullover or a button up, always UPSIDE DOWN. and he won't let me turn it the right way. he screams like he's bein' killed:rolleyes: If we are just hanging out at the house I don't care, but when I have to go out in public, That just AINT gonna happen! no way is he going out with an upside down shirt on! I tried bribery, and not even asking or begging, I just hold him down & change it, butI feel bad for "cramping his style" LOL any suggestions?

He is just being independent! Maybe show him that Daddy and your son's friends do not wear their shirts that way.
BTW, where in Norfolk are you? I used to live off of Azaela Gardens Road (I was USAF stationed at CINCLANTFLEET)

Cool, I Live close to Azalea Garden, we live right off of Robin Hood rd, in Estabrook. As for "Mr. Independence" A*K*A "Stevie", Dad is deployed right now and his brothers think it's funny so they put their shirts on upside down too, they always change BEFORE he comes back into the room, but Hopefully it won't last too much longer.

I was going to suggest putting your shirt on upside down and show him how goofy it looks... tell him that it doesnt look right ... maybe if he sees how silly you look in it ( tell him your going into town that way) he'll change his mind.. just a thought... i've done that with my 3 yr old and its worked miracles..lol

i don't mean laugh but it sounds funny my 3 year old daughters does this with her underwear. you'll tell her that her waist is through the leg hole but she doesn't want to fix it can be comfy that way but after awhile she realizes and rearrnages them.

my 2 1/2 yr old likes to dress herself too. she does really good with everything except her panties. my 4 1/2 yr old niece is into dressing herself too. she usually has pants on 2 sizes to big and a shirt 2 sizes to small, of course they dont match and she always has her spiderman snow boots that her mom bought her on. its a good thing we dont leave the house very often :)

My daughter(shes 4) went to school yesterday in blue cords, a pink shirt, black cowboy boots and her pink tutu. Its not worth it to me to fight with her before school and then have her be upset all day. Yeah she may look goofy but shes a happy goof :)
