I know someone has to have a better idea than boring cupcakes! I have to take treats for Jace's birthday to school this week. Anyone? :)

I was gonna say to make up some goody bags, with stuff from a Dollar Tree or some place like that. But I guess it would still get expensive if its a big class. lol

Maybe try drfferent types of cookies instead of cupcakes.

Im thinking about making bags up with a little sandwich(punched out with a cookie cutter) so gogurt or pudding and some little prizes. There are only 9 kids in his class so it wont cost too much. Im just tired of all the regular treats. I think the kids would like something a little different for a change :)

When I was a room mother, I would always get the packs of party favors-they have many neat ones, a really colorful pencil, and then make rice krispie treats...they love them when they are all gooey LOL

How about chocolate chip cookie monsters....Buy the big oversized chocolate chip cookies. put 2 together and fill with the aerosol whipped cream(extra heavy) decorate with chocolate chip or M&M eyes or nose, Twizzlers mouth, Use your imagination and be creative.
Or maybe mini pizzas...You can use bagels or even canned biscuits. Cook the biscuits, cut them in half, put marinara suace, shreded cheese, pepperoni, anything you like on a pizza. When my son was little Raphael the Ninja Turtle came to his 6th birthday party. We had regular birthday cake(turtle themed) radioactive Ninja Turtle pizzas, chips, sewer ooze dip, michaelangelo's secret party punch, and cookiemonsters(mutants from the secret x lab) it was a great hit. Good Luck!!!

well even if you do the as you say "boring cupcakes" I have a cute idea fill them with pudding. Make pudding and put and fill the cute cake from the top and frost like normal. I made that earlier last and the kids loved it.

When I make cupcakes for the grandkids, I fost them in white w/red icing to look like baseballs or orange w/black to look like basketballs. 2 of the grandsons play those sports. Got that idea from a Betty Crocker cookbook years ago.

Hey Jay...instead of putting the cupcake batter in cupcake cups, fill the cake ice cream (not the sugar cones) cones about 3/4 full and bake the cupcakes in those instead. They will stand up in the cupcake pan. Not as much of a mess!

Yea, the cake in a cone idea is great. I did that for my son when he was little. It's easy to frost, too. You just warm the frosting and then just dip and swirl the cone cake in it. Then you can top it with some sprinkles or something.

Or you get oreo's and crush them, after you frost the cupcakes, put the crushed oreo's on top and buy gummy worms. Looks
like a garden. I saw it in a kids magazine.

hey gals, why when I made the cake in the cones mine turn soft after baking. Not crispy. Is that normal or just my problem
NO offense taken on the boring cupcake remark by me. :) I too think they are a bite--boring but with cute ideas they seem new and exciting to a bunch of young kids.

GOOD LUCK happy birthday to your child.

Sure, it's really simple, here ya go:
Cupcake Ice Cream Cones

Need:

ice cream cones
cake mix
frosting

Mix the cake mix as directed and fill ice cream cones about 3/4 full. Place on cookie sheet or set in cupcake pan. Follow directions on cake mix box for cupcakes for cooking time and temperature. Frost with any frosting desired. Suprisingly, the cones bake fine i.e. they do not burn and the whole thing is edible. You can also decorate the tops with colored sprinkles.

I just started ordering pizza for the classes for my daughters school birthday parties...I can usually strike a deal with a local pizza place for pizza and I make a huge garden salad. The kids love it and they eat more salad than pizza sometimes. I am doing the same for my daughter this week, her birthday was Dec. 29t, so they are just getting back from Christmas break. The only thing is she is now in 4th grade and there is 30 kids in her class now other than the 20! LOL!

YOU CAN DO LOTS OF THINGS WITH RICE KRISPIES.

PUT THEM IN A CUPCAKE PAN & MAKE LITTLE
"BOWELS" FILL WITH M&MS.

OR CUT OUT WITH A COOKIE CUTTER &
PUT A POPSCICLE (SP?) STICK IN THEM.
ADD SPRINKLES.

I LOVE THE RICE KRISPIE PIZZA IDEA.

It's easy to make and delicious.
Kellogg's® Rice Krispies Treats® Pizza

3 tablespoons margarine or butter
1 package (10 oz., about 40) marshmallows
or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
6 cups KELLOGG'S® RICE KRISPIES® cereal
or KELLOGG'S® COCOA KRISPIES® cereal
Strawberry jam
Yellow frosting
Red fruit roll-type snacks, cut into quarter-size circles

1. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt margarine and marshmallows on HIGH for 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute. Stir mixture until smooth.

2. Add KELLOGG'S RICKE KRISPIES cereal, stirring until well coated. Spread cereal mixture into a 12-inch pizza pan coated with cooking spray. Allow to cool.

3. To make pizza: spread strawberry jam on top of cereal mixture for tomato sauce. Leave edges plain to resemble pizza crust. Spread yellow frosting over strawberry jam for cheese. Decorate with fruit snack circles for Pepperoni. Top with candy sprinkles as extra spices. Cut into slices to serve.Other decorating tips: Use your imagination, after spreading frosting onto cereal mixture, top with fruit slices or other candies. For best results, use fresh marshmallows.1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow creme can be substituted for marshmallows.Diet, reduced calorie or tub margarine is not recommended.Store no more than two days in airtight container. This recipe appeared in a magazine, 2001.

I think Im going with the cake in a cone this weekend. Im going to buy different toppings and let the kids put their own toppings on the frosting. I'll put different toppings into different bowls and they can make their own cones. I think they'll have a blast doing this. I like the rice krispy treats too. I think Im going to do both. Great ideas ladies :)

I was just going to suggest almost the same thing. I took styrofoam cups the crushed oreos, chocolate pudding mixed those filled the cup up partially added the worm(s) put a little more puddin' mix and some crushed oreos on top and Viola.. worms in dirt.
I did this for my kids and the neighbor boys one day last week and they LOVED it.. lol
