I'm thinking about doing it this year for my boyfriends card, and was wondering- who do you address it to? Just Postmaster, or do you put Valentines Cancelations? I've seen it different on different sites, so I was wondering. Any help is greatly appriciated!

This is to have a special Valentine postage cancellation on your letter or card.

Here is what you do. Address & envelope the valentine to your sweetie AS USUAL. Put THAT envelope in another one, affix postage, and mail to :

Postmaster
Valentine Cancellations
(insert one city & zip from list above)

There is also Lovelock, NV

I do not know the postal zip for it but if you wanted them postmarked from there, you could send your card to me and I would take it to the PO there.

Adair, not only do these town have cutesy valentine-ish names, they have a special valentine cancellation stamp. So it's not your regular postage cancellation from what I understand. Like all the Christmas stuff I mailed from one PO, they used a Rudolph cancellation and haven't you seen the cancellation from the PO's marketing partnership for the film "Spirit" I had some stuff go with "Spirit" cancellations.

they open it, and then they mail it from their city so that the postage is cancelled with their town name and special valentine cancellation.

oh I see now. I had no clue they really did that. I will try it out and see if it works and post it here when it comes back to my husband.

my aunt lives in Kissimmee Florida!

I did it with Loveland CO and Valentine TX one year. They have cute cancelation stamps they put across the envelope. Boyfriend would have to be stupid not to see it. Good test--can't see that? What else can't you see? I have their addresses for both but need to look them up. Some Valentine sites have the addys.

Come to think of it my sister noticed but my brother didn't. Must be in the genes. LOL

I still have my envelopes from Loveland and Valentine. Really cute. Send yourself one or your hubby one. Or that horrible name, your significant other.

Guess you don't like that "name," janelle? :D

It sounds like your significant udder. And why is the other significant? More psychobable. But then I was called the "other mother", sounds like udder mudder. That's what I get for being a step-mom. I'll always be the udder mudder. LOL

chort we have to come up with a better name then that one. Any suggestions? I like Jaybird's name--might as well be daughter-in-law. How about might as well be hubby or does that scare them off?

From the January issue of Readers Digest:

Here's a town living up to its name. For the cost of postage, you can have your sweetie's valentine stamped with a special Loveland, CO postmark and poem. The city's re-mailing program began as a PR stunt in 1947 and today averages 300,000 cards each February. (We checked and Friendship, Maine, won't mail a card if you want to "just be friends.") Send a prestamped. preaddressed valentines in a larger envelope to:

Postmaster
Attn: Valentines USPS
Loveland, CO 80538

Cards must be received by February 9 for ontime delivery
