I want to make rum balls but ever recipe i have come across has nuts in it which my hubby doesn't like can i subsitue nuts for coconut? Thanks

Rum Balls



12 oz chocolate chips

1 cup sugar

6 Tbls light corn syrup

1 cup Rum

5 cups finely crushed vanilla wafers

crushed nuts (optional)



Melt chocolate. Mix in remaining ingredients. Make into 1 inch balls. Roll in confectioner sugar. Add crushed nuts if desired.

Rum Balls


4 ounces semi sweet chocolate
1 tablespoon whipping cream
2 tablespoons rum
1 1/3 cups sifted confectioners sugar
2 - 3 ounces chocolate vermicelli

Over slow heat, melt the chocolate and stir in cream and rum. Beat in the confectioners sugar until mixture is fairly stiff. Roll into small balls and coat with the chocolate vermicelli. Place on a cookie sheet, and refrigerate for several hours.

CHOCOLATE RUM BALLS

1/2 c. sour cream
4 c. chocolate wafers, crushed
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
3/4 c. melted butter
1 c. cocoa
1/2 - 3/4 c. rum
1 c. chopped pecans (optional)

Combine melted chocolate, sour cream and almond
flavoring; set aside. In a separate bowl combine
wafers and other ingredients. Mix well until it holds.
Chill first as it is easier to work with. Mix all together.
Shape into balls and roll in 10X sugar. Keep in refrigerator.
Can be frozen.

RUM BALLS

2 2/3 c. sugar
3/4 c. cocoa
4 tsp. instant coffee
4 tsp. rum extract
4 tbsp. hot water
7 c. oatmeal (regular)
1 lb. softened butter or margarine
(you may use 2 sticks each of
butter and margarine)

Mix all ingredients together with hands until all are
blended well (no mixer). Chill for 1 hour in refrigerator
(overnight would be better). Then roll into small balls
(about 1 teaspoon of mixture). The rum balls may be rolled
in finely chopped nuts or confectioners sugar.

RUM BALLS

1 1/2 c. vanilla wafers, crushed (can
substitute graham crackers)
1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. pecans OR walnuts, crushed
(optional)
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 1/2 tbsp. white corn syrup
1/4 c. rum

Mix wafers, nuts, sugar and cocoa. Add corn syrup and
rum. Then mix all together. Roll in 1 inch balls and drop
and roll in powdered sugar for coating. Keep refrigerated.
