I don't think it's a bad way to meet someone, as long as you're careful and confirm that the person is who they say they are.

I agree that you have to be VERY careful, my best friend met a guy that she had been chatting with for quite awhile, she thought he was the greatest guy, until he started stalking her, she had to change her phone number, email etc. It was very scary. But I've heard alot of success stories too so I think you just have to be cautious.

Where on line did you all find all these great guys you married and or are dating? I would sure like to find that site. I talk to a lot of guys but haven't met any of them........ YET!!..... My luck he would be another Ted Bundy or Jeffery Dahmer. How long did you talk to them online before you actually met them in person. I know there are just regular people out there wanting to meet someone, but be vel..we vel..we kel..ful There are a lot of NUTS out there too.

Well, I tried it a couple of times and met some real wierdos.
I was VERY careful. Never give out your real name, addy, phone #, where you work, etc. until you're 110% positive this person isn't some deranged lunatic. Also, when you want to meet, then do so in a public place during the day and ALWAYS drive yourself.

I may try it again some day. How wonderful to hear there are success stories out there!

I met my fiance online too. Back in 1996 in a Prodigy chat room. I think it was a great way to meet because we got to know each other's personality and minds before looks ever came into it! By the time I met him I was already in love with his insides, didn't much matter what the outsides looked like at that point. I will admit that I found him a bit intimidating at first, but now I know he's just a big cuddly teddy bear!

Not so sure I'd do it again today though, it sounds like chat rooms have changed alot since back then. More stalking & stuff.

I met my hubby online 4 years ago too. He moved from Vancouver WA to Idaho. I think that now a days there are more "freaks" out there. I would not do it again.

I met a guy online I thought was great. We talked for over a year and exchanged pics and phone numbers. He said he wanted to have a life with me and made plans to go and see him. Then I found out he was telling alot of women the same things. :( Having them come to see him, sleeping with them and then on to the next one. But of course with them it was just talk. It was different with me. Yeah right. This really hurt after all the time I put into the so called relationship. Alot of people online told me about him but I didnt want to believe it. Wish I had listened. :(
