Hi everyone. I'm hoping you can help me. I want to make personalized candles for my family for Christmas (with the colors of their house maybe with dried flowers in it for adults and with their names in them for the younger ones). How much does this cost and how exactly do I go about doing it?

I posted in the arts and crafts section but no one has even viewed my post but me LOL.

Thank you guys in advance for this. You guys are the craftiest people I know!

are you wanting to make wax or gel candles? if you want to do wax candles, insead of using dried flowers, you could always stencil flowers on them with colors that match the colors of the persons house. i have a book with detailed instructions of you want you can email me for more info.

i have never made gel candles, so i dunno much about them. you can go to hobby lobby though, they have tons of stuff and you could get lots of ideas that way.

also, if the kids are a little too young for candles, you can always make gel airfresheners, they are really easy to do and smell wonderful. you can also put embeded stuff in them. hope that helps a little bit. :)

I'm wanting to make wax candles. Any pointers on where to buy materials and how to do the stenciling?

I don't know if you have a Michael's Craft Store in Texas...but they have all the supplies to make candles...plus lots of books. Or do a seach in your phone book under "Candle Making" or "Candle Supplies"...etc.

Also...do a search in Arts & Crafts forum for candles.

I find that it sometimes easier to purchase existing pillars and tapers from dollar stores and decorate them, as opposed to buying the wax and making them from scratch.

I have used decorative paint on pillars and tapers and then sold them at craft fairs. For example...I painted holly on some candles...fall leaves on others...snow flakes...stars...christmas trees...
