Ok, i'm looking for a little known law in Oklahoma, My eyes are about to go blind searching for it

I bought a new van on Sept.3, 2002, THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE MY TITLE, its one excuse after another. I'm looking for the law that says if they do not have my title to me within 30 days then they have to give my money back. I don't want to go empty handed, when I tell them I want it back. I want to have the statute numbers and stuff.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME????? I'M AT MY WITS END.

I WOULD BE FOREVER IN THE DEBT OF THE PERSON THAT FOUND IT.

Well I havn't heard , nor I have found yet any law or statue that says the commision has to have your title to you within 30 days. I know locally they always tell you 4-8 weeks. However I did find that you must transfer the title within 30 days.

If I find anything else I'll post it ......

Basically gives all laws pertaining to titles and transfer of titles. The only thing it states about time period that I could see is that they have to apply to transfer the title withing 30 days.
Now, having said that. There may be a chance that the vehicle you bought was a salvage vehicle and that they failed to have it reinspected for that specific thing and that's holding up the title. Now, one last thing. If you can prove ownership (ie; purchase paperwork) you should be able to apply for a duplicate title yourself. It will cost $11 from what I could tell.

Good luck.

Your best bet is to just call the Oklahoma DMV. Here's one addy & phone # I found:

Motor Vehicle Division
409 N.E. 28th St.
Oklahoma City, OK 73194
Instate-only: 800-522-8165

You should also be able to call and talk to a lawyer for free for advice.

Okay, found this:

How long does a dealer have to deliver a title to a purchaser?

Oklahoma law states that the title to a vehicle is to be delivered to the purchaser at the time of the delivery of the vehicle. The only exception to that is that the title may be delivered to the lending institution financing the purchase and the lending institution shall have twenty days to perfect its lien and thereafter deliver the title to the purchaser. Failure to deliver certificates of title within thirty (30) days of the sale of the vehicle may subject the dealer to a One Hundred Dollar ($100.00) fine. The title should be properly assigned to the purchaser by writing the name and address of the purchaser on the back where indicated. The title should be notarized and a 3.50 tax stamp affixed. Failure to properly reassign the title may subject the dealer to a One Hundred Dollar ($100.00) fine.
