Subject: History Lesson

Look what happens when a President gets elected in a year with a "0"
at the end. Also notice it goes in increments of 20 years.

1840: William Henry Harrison (died in office)

1860: Abraham Lincoln (assassinated)

1880: James A. Garfield (assassinated)

1900: William McKinley (assassinated)

1920: Warren G. Harding (died in office)

1940: Franklin D. Roosevelt (dies in office)

1960: John F. Kennedy (assassinated)

1980: Ronald Reagan (survived assassination attempt)

2000: George W. Bush ????????????

And to think that we had two guys fighting it out in the courts to
be the one elected in 2000.

You might also be interested in this.

Have a history teacher explain this----- if they can.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.

John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.

John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.

Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.

Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.

Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.

Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.

Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.

Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.

Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford'.

Kennedy was shot in a car called 'Lincoln' made by 'Ford'.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And here's the kicker.......

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland

A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

Creepy huh?

Like I said, I don't know if all this is true...I pretty much slept thru history. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

I've read that before, and I think it's true. Interesting, isn't it?

That is really freaky stuff!

I'm not a history buff either. And I didn't go look this up. But if my memory serves me right I don't think Oswald & Booth were southerners. Oswald I think was from another country. Because I remember in the conspiracy thing they talked about him not having a good understanding of the English language.

And I recall them talking about booth being from the north, but was a southern sympathizer.

LOL that part just caught my eye. I might have it all mixed up though. ;)

Ok, I looked this up:

When and where was Oswald born?
Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) was born in the old French Hospital in New Orleans on October 18, 1939.

All of the Booth children but one, were born out of wedlock. The family home was on property near Bel Air, Maryland, twenty-five miles south of the Mason-Dixon line.

You might be confused because there are theories that he worked for Russia as a spy or communist supporter ( or what ever) right around the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis. He knew the language and apparently was known for having a russian accent when speaking English, which his Russian wife said was just a put on.

I have this sad fascination with the whole Kennedy family so I have done some reading on this stuff. LOL.....

I've always heard it as:

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.

A week before Kennedy was shot, he was "in" Marilyn Monroe.

:D LOL!!!! I know that is tacky, but that is the way I have always heard it said! ;)

Was that on unsolved mysteries. I can picture the footage in my head but I can't place where I saw it.

Th emovie JFK went into kind of a lot of detail about him (Oswald). I also thimk there was something about it on some A&E show, and no doubt Unsolved Mysteries as well.

Thank you for posting this hotllama :D
Now I don't feel so stupid about my earlier post on here. ;)

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
A dubious use of the term "Southerner." Although John Wilkes Booth was undeniably a Southern sympathizer, he was born in Maryland, which (along with Delaware) was the northernmost of the border slave states and remained part of the Union throughout the Civil War. Additionally, Booth spent a good deal of his life in the North and "thought of himself as a Northerner who understood the South."

Oswald was nominally a Southerner by virtue of his having been born in New Orleans; he spent his youth being shuttled between Lousiana, Texas, and New York before finally joining the Marines. But Oswald's "Southerness" is of no real import, because, unlike Booth, Oswald was not motivated by a regional affiliation.

These are true facts. Just astounding. as for Oswald, his wife Marina was born in Russia. She has done some interviews a few years ago. Sure hope nothing happens to Bush. But these terrorists and snipers - who knows. These are truly scarey times

There's a link to a certain survey site on the snopes site, hope I don't get in trouble for saying that?
