Hi again :) This is kinda off-the-wall but...My country neighbor friend is having a party Friday nite. Hayride, bonfire, etc. and all I have to bring is my "weenie roaster", lawn chair and covered dish (with food inside lol) anyway...I would appreciate some ideas for a dish that would be appropriate and kinda dif for this type party. Thanks;) Gonna take son to school and I'll check back in a bit. bye bye and have nice days all.

Don't know if this'll help but...I like to take a big taco salad. Since it's a bonfire, if they're not making smores, maybe you could make those pan smores with that you use Golden Grahams for.

nothing goes better with "weenies" than beans, I'd make a big ol pot of baked beans

I have a really great recipe for beans if you would like me to post it.They are called Trucker Beans and they are made with hamburg and bacon so they are like a meal in one.I get asked to make these for everything and they go over great.Of course over the years I have changed the recipe to suit our tastes.I like a lot of meat in them.

here is a simple one...and it works well because it will not spoil outside...
Take red onions...sliced, mix with sliced cucumbers, sliced homegrown tomatoes....cover with vinegar, some salt, some cracked black pepper, a bit of fresh basil, and a little sugar. let sit. best to make the night before.

Okay here it goes:
1 pound hamburg
1 cup chopped onions
brown together on stove and drain grease
4 lb {16 oz.} cans pork and beans
1 {16 oz.} can kidney beans {drained}
1 cup ketchup
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons mustard
2 tablespoons vinegar
mix all together, and bake at 350 for a half an hour.
add 4 strips of raw bacon to top of beans for flavor.
That is the exact recipe that was given to me many years ago by the mother of a guy my hubby worked with.
I change the recipe to suit our own taste.I add a lot more hamburg because we like it real meaty.I also fry the bacon first and add a lot more than four strips.I then cool it and crumble it in the beans. You can also change the beans by adding more or less .Sometimes I also put in chick peas because I love them.Whatever way you make it , it is always delicious and a great big hit.I hope you some of you enjoy it as much as we do.
