...Sarah's apartment is FILTHY. We worked non-stop for 3 hours and didn't even dent it. Dust on the brick walls, grease and spills still on the stove, filthy refrigerator, windows, baseboard, floors, cabinets. And we won't even discuss the bathroom. Oh yes I will. Shower and tub were fine (as was the sink and vanity) for the most part, but cobwebs and crude under the clawfoot tub, and the toilet?
 Let's discuss hepatitis vaccines before we go there. Dried urine and crude at the base of the toilet and down the front.
I am VERY tired and VERY not so happy. And the leasing agency is going to get a little lesson in life according to Janel, first thing in the morning. They WILL have a cleaning company out there TOMORROW. And that apartment WILL be spotless before I get there tomorrow evening, or there is going to be a very ugly encounter in the Central West End. IF I have to clean that place (and it really is a NICE place physically) they WILL knock a couple hundred $ off their next month's rent.
NOW I need to go shower and scrub with some Pine Sol and sanitize.
I am NOT a very happy camper.
A tired and hungry birdy isn't a pretty picture.

That is one of the funniest things I have heard today! Hope that Sarah's apartment is cleaned by the time you get there. It sounds pretty bad.

I've seen places like that before. Even the Board Of Health wouldn't go in without gloves & a mask! Clean off one layer of crud and there's another 4 layers underneath that! I can't believe that landlords can get away with renting out places in that condition. Isn't that what all those extra fees they tack onto rent are supposed to be for? (I've never lived in a rented place so I don't have any idea.)

I was also under the impression that was what security deposits were for...sorry about the mess jaybird, and for you having to clean others nastiness up...get on their a$$ it's their responsibility not yours;) Oh and I'm glad you didn't see any creepy crawlys at least that's something lol.

That's how our house was when we bought it. I thought the downstairs toilet was beige until I started to wipe it down:rolleyes:

Structurally and astestically the apartment is perfect. And we should have made sure, not just 'assumed' the place would be cleaned before the girls moved in. I've got a call into the leasing agent but I haven't heard back from him yet.

Spoke to the leasing agent this morning who was genuinely shocked that it wasn't clean and in 'move in' condition. The landlord finally called me back about 15 minutes ago, and to put it mildly, he's an *sshole. After he said the apartment was beautiful and in perfect condition I politely informed him the bathroom was a dump and a person needed hepatitis shots to even go into it and that it was filthy beyond normal dust from being empty. He suggested I get over there and clean it the next few nights before they move in. I suggested he kiss my *ss. Then we said our goodbyes.

Did you happen to take pictures BEFORE you started cleaning ? Be sure & take some before you do anymore. I'd also call the leasing agent and let them know about the landlords' abysmal attitude.

Karen (the other mom) forgot her dig camera last night. But I have a trashbag half full of evidence. Perhaps we should send it in with next month's rent? I don't think the leasing agent gives a phooey, he passed the buck to the landlord immediately, and he already has his commission in his pocket. Lesson learned. At my back & knees expense! :D

This is when you hire a commerical cleaning company to come in and sanitize the place. I moved into a townhouse once and didn't realize that the walls weren't yellow. The prior tenants had been major smokers and there was yellow film over everything. It just ran off with every wipe of Lysol. The cabinets actually changed colors.

I'm digging through the Yellow Pages right now looking for a cleaning service in the area. I did wipe down the built in china hutch last night and lo and behold! it IS white! So is the frig and stove!! :D
