I don't care for any of the bottled tartar sauces I've
tried. Do you have a good recipe or know of a good brand
of pre-made sauce? I'd appreciate it. I can't afford
Red Lobster very often, so I better cook it myself!!:p

I've never even thought of making this from scratch!
Mmmmm now I'm hungry:D

I'm going to keep my eye on this thread:D

Have you looked in the recipe thread yet? There's lots
of great recipes in there.

My sister always makes her own too.....here is the recipe she uses most often~its really good too :)

Tartar Sauce
It is better if prepared several hours before you will be using it,
but it can be used immediately. Store for up to 3 days in
the refrigerator~ Makes 1 cup ( 6 servings)
1 cup of Mayonnaise
1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
1 tablespoon minced onion
2 tablespoons lemon juice (optional)
salt and pepper to taste

In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sweet pickle
relish, and minced onion. Stir in lemon juice. Season to
taste with salt and pepper. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour
before serving.

Tartar Sauce

2 hard boiled eggs
1 egg yolk from a medium egg
2 teaspoons lemon juice
¾ cup olive oil
1 teaspoon chopped capers
1 teaspoon chopped gerkin
1 teaspoon fresh chives
1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
salt and pepper
Cut the hard boiled eggs in half and remove the yolks. Press the yolks through a sieve into a bowl.

Blend the raw yolk with the hard boiled yolks until smooth. Stir in the lemon juice.

Add the oil very slowly, a little at a time whisking constantly. When the mixture begins to thicken, add the oil a little more quickly.

Finely chop one egg and stir into the sauce with the capers, gherkins and herbs. Season to taste.

Ok, Thanks again Gia! The recipe that you gave that included hard boiled eggs reminded me of a recipe that I used to make for Thousand
Island Dressing....I'll havto look that up again, it was good. It sounds weird to add hard boiled eggs, but if it's like the dressing I
used to make, it's SOOO good! So now my kids and I will both be happy! How unusual is that when it comes to dinner time? LOL I'll be making some and I'll let you know how it turns out. :)

That's the way the lady who has the resturant here in our town makes it. One day I begged one of the girls that work there for the receipe, I just couldn't believe it only had them 2 ingredients in it. LOL
But your right it's real good! ;)

Basically, I just mix mayo and pickle relish.
And for cocktail sauce, I mix ketchup and horseradish sauce.

This is not really what you're asking, but I just tried some of that new Hellmans mayo with horseradish/bacon/tomato flavor. It is yummy!
