Would you give your SSN to get paid for a survey? I just took a survey for BI and they want my #. Is it safe to give it to them?

I do a lot of surveys and none of them has ever
asked for my SS#.
I would NOT give it to them!

Your life revolves around that little #. I don't
care how much they pay you, it's NOT worth it.

Please be careful.

{{{TangarineT}}} Thanks! I feel the same way, I just needed someone else to say it too. LOL I'm just not comfortable giving my info out like that.

Thanks again.

Actually...if you are going to get paid for surveys, they might be reporting that as income to you.

I haven't been asked my ss#, but then again, I don't get that much money from the surveys...LOL.

There is a certain point where it must be reported to IRS as income. (I think annual income of $500 or more...)

I guess you just need to decide if the money you are making from that particular survey company is worth it.

Yes I agree - with all that's occuring with identity theft I would be skeptical. Just weigh the pros and cons and I am sure you will make the best decision. Good luck.

i also was asked for my ss#. no way, i think it was for $5 or $10. now if it was for $500.00 i would think about that, because the law is then involved. but i never gave the number but i also did not get the money.

The news media bombards us with "do not give out your SS# or bank acct. #" unless you have extra precautions in place. I know some folks do all their banking and business online. But not me. I still do snail mail for face to face:)

What is BI? I do surveys for Jonathan Baron out of Univ. of Penn. He puts surveys up at his site usually every Thursday. He requires a SS# in order for you to get paid because he does it out of the university. There are many members of this forum who have given him their SS#s in order to do his surveys. But I do not know what BI is, so cannot advise you on that.

Sorry...BI is Brand Institute. I didn't do it. I am just to scared to give my info out like that.

Thanks for the info everyone.:)

I am not saying you should do it, or not. But I do have something to say, lol. When I worked in collections, we used a type of program called "Skip-trace." If I had your name, and ONE SINGLE other piece of info about you, (IE birthday, ANY phone # you EVER had in your name, ANY address you ever lived at) I could get your current address, your SS#, and all sorts of info that you could not imagine. Now this program is supposed to be used by collection agencies ONLY, but who's to say that it is?? I just wanted to point out that your personal info is not as personal as you think.
