I am going to a neurologist tomorrow for an EMG. My arm has been bothering me for some time now. I have been thinking it was carpel tunnel syndrome but my dr. called something else. He says it is starting in my elbow and not my wrist. I may need surgery. It just depends on what the test show.

I am so skeeered! I hate needles!!!!

Anyone else ever done this?

Is it the Ulnar nerve? This is what a doctor told me I have a problem with in my right arm.

LOL---It took until about the 3rd time we discussed it until I could remember. I still have trouble remembering because it doesn't seem to be as "popular" as carpal tunnel.
I do know that I still get numbness and pain in my hand and wrist and also pain in my elbow. I haven't had any follow-up since I lost my job last year and no insurance.
Anyway, good luck. I'm sure it will go fine.
Hey, ask them to give you some numbing cream where the needle will go. That's what my DS does when he has surgery..(hates the mask)

I don't know if I have asked you this already mewoman but what part of VA are you in?

My unsecret pal voliver6 lives in VA and my mom lives in Elizabeth City NC which is about 45 min from Norfolk.

ive had this done and it's not terribly bad.

first they tape electrodes to you and give a mild electric current that way, and gauge neuro / muscular responss there (like they grpah an EKG)

then they put needles just under the skin and administer the electrical current that way.....

mine was done basically from my neck down, both arms and legs and my back. it's uncomfortable but the needles aren't like IV or blood needles and don't hurt that way.

it's relatively quick, and only a little uncomfortable. it's not painful. really. mine took about 30-45 minutes, but remember, mine was "full-body"

hoping it all comes out OK and you can relax through it.

I know it's not tennis elbow. I had that once and omg that hurts so bad!

I had my appt. today and he just checked out my arm. I had to make another appt. for the EMG. UGGGG That means another freakin copay!
