Computer ?????

Ok my b/f has been trying to defrag his computer and it will not go , does anyone have any ideas as to why ???? Thanks !:)

you need to run a complete scandisc first.

He said it won't run scan disk either , that it get to about 10% and starts over ???:confused: :)

hit control, atl, delete at the same time, end all programs except explorer

then run scandisc, you probably have to many programs running in the background

you can't do anything else while those programs are running, it just forces them to start over

It's still doing the same thing , and a message keeps coming up that say it has restared for some reason or another lol .

if it is restarting it is because another program is running, and the drives contents has changed.

I dunna know , I am going to throw it out the window lol . I did the ctrl alt delete and there was nothing else running , is there any where else I can check on here to see if there is something else ?

hit start
run
msconfig
click the start up tab
uncheck everything and restart your computer

*make sure you only change the start up tab, otherwise you can disable drivers you need.

Ok, Lasher, everytime I try to burn a cd, my computer says that the disc is corrupt. I have burned many many many many of this brand of cdrs and some out of this same container. Any ideas on why this just started happening? :)

are the files, wav files? do they have names with unusuak characters in them? sometimes i have to rename my files, because it wants the short, no spaces, usual characters, i.e. #@$&*(%^_

check that and then give me the actual error message, might help, and I'll link to my desktop at work and check the database.

also need to know which software you are using, Nero, Roxio, etc.

Glad you got your computer up and running.

Now if ya don't mind can I ask lasher sumthin:D My computer keeps sayin it's low on memory I have quit runnin a few programs and it works for awhile then it will say that again,Do I need to get a new card and if so what?pleaseeeeeee help:D

a number of things can be the cause,

one your memory can actually be going bad

two, run msconfig as explained above, free up your memory

three , you need to adjust your virtual memory
right click on my computer, select properties, then preformance
select virtual memory, and you can adjust it from there, do so
in small increments

four, your cmos battery may be going bad, easiest way to tell is if your computer can not keep up with time.
