More than 464,000 of the vehicles recalled for fuel pump fix.

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Chrysler said Friday that it's recalling about 464,000 PT Cruisers to fix a fuel leak.
The No. 3 U.S. automaker said the leak was detected in the 2001 and 2002 PT Cruisers during an inspection after a government crash test. It said that there were no incidents or complaints it knew of but that it was recalling the vehicles as a precaution.
To fix the leak, Chrysler will install a secondary seal to the top of the fuel pump module.
Chrysler also said about a quarter of the vehicles recalled have a fuel supply line that could rub against an air conditioning port, which might cause a fuel leak.
While this is unlikely to occur, Chrysler said it also will attach a clip to the fuel line to prevent contact.
Chrysler introducted the PT Cruiser in April 2000 as a 2001 model. Initial demand was so strong that many buyers had to wait months for their vehicles to be delivered.
Chrysler said owners of vehicles being recalled will be notified by mail.
Chrysler spokeswoman Ann Smith said both problems could be fixed in as little as an hour, Reuters news agency reported.
The stock of parent company DaimlerChrysler (DCX: up $0.51 to $44.01, Research, Estimates) was little changed in afternoon trading.
