Talia started second grade today. I am sooooo happy. She has been drivin me nuts.

Anyone else on year round?

What do you mean year round? Don't they have a summer vacation?

She got out July 2nd and went back on the 25th. That was her summer break. She goes to school for about six weeks then gets three weeks off track. It varies a bit with different holidays. Last year she was out all of December and a little of January because she was off track then had christmas and new years vacaction.

do alot of school systems do this? I never heard of it before. do you like it that way?

I don't know how many do it but I've only heard of it in elementary. And yes I do like it. It's nice to get the breaks more often. Talia doesn't get burnt out at school and I don't get burnt out in the summer. lol

I was just telling hubby the other day I wish our schools would go on year round! It sucks bacause we are military we live over 1700 miles from family and the school breaks are so short you can only plan a trip home in the summer. Which makes everyone trying to plan their vacations at once and they can't do that. On average we get to go see the family every three years! And we are a very close family, I talk to Mom on the phone every single day at least once, sometimes more than once! We have to visit his family in one state, mine two states away from them so it can't be done in the week the kids have for chirstmas or spring break!

I also wish we would go uniforms and stop with the trendy expensive fashions I can't afford to buy for four kids!

My son goes back to school on August 7...I wish we were on year round school.....My son gets so bored during the summer...

you get kids in middle (jr. high), and high school which is on the standard schedule, then planning vacations is like impossible.
