Now where were we--on yes Rosie O'Donnell.

Well I guess some people still like him or else he's like a novelty of some kind that everyone wants a close up look at. He made 9 million last year making speeches. He finally made more than his wife for the year.

Denise--it was in our paper yesterday under people in the news, usually about celebrities. It was in Uncasville, Conn. the Mohegan Sun casino threw a $2 million party to celebrate its $1 billion hotel expansion. Then it has a list of all the celebrities.

Clinton "wailed on the sax" with Dan Aykyoyd and Jim Belushi. Only O'Donnell, who said she didn't have to be nice now that she's not on TV, expressed reservations at the fanfest. "I've not been in his corner ever since he lied to America when he said he didn't sleep with that woman". ("Acually he said he didn't have sexual relations with that woman")--my quote, you know how you have to be with lawyers. LOL. "I'm not over it. I'm bitter," she said. "I waved to him, but didn't walk wver to him. did you notice? He really annoys me." O'Donnell told the New York Daily News that one of Clinton's security guards had told her that Clinton wanted to talk with her. "I said, "I"m real busy.'"

I Promise I shall not say a word except from my OP, which I have now transferred to this thread.

I'm in the minority, but I absolutely CANNOT stand Rosie O'Donnell..never could. I always "knew" about her too even before she came out. It was kind of obvious...

ANYHOO..

As far as I'm concerned, Clinton never existed. I never called him "president", and he should have been impeached or resigned. IMHO.

I heard her comments on ET last night. I think she should have met him and told him what she REALLY thought of him! THAT would have been interesting!! I thought it was kinda sad that she felt that she couldn't truely express herself while she had her show. Makes me feel like she was just being a "character" on her show and I feel manipulated now :( JMO....

MK, I agree with you...Clinton never exsisted.

No Rosie is right, you really can't say what you think when you are on TV. It's all about ratings and I think she was trying to have a light funny show. Why get bogged down in politics. But then she did say what she thought on gun control and told off, who was it, Tom Sellick on her show.

Yes, made him so mad he walked off the set, didn't he.

I'm a Rosie fan also...but think making an issue of NOT being nice is ridiculous. It is one thing to be obsequious and another to simply be polite and courteous.

That said...I am also disgusted with Clinton. I truly relate to Rosie on this one. As a "bleeding heart liberal", I voted for that man...something that I totally regret. I believe he lied to his supporter and that he betrayed the entire country. As someone who believed in him...that betrayal is all the more harder to take.

JMHO...

Well, Kelsey1224, you HAD to vote for someone. I told my dad Clinton would win, cause there really wasn't much of a choice.

Maybe if bush had gotten in again he would have cleaned up those terriorists and we wouldn't have had 9/11. Clinton instead stripped our military and we were in bad shape. My step-son was in the Army when Clinton was in and he said moral was so low we wouldn't have won a war if one broke out.

RE Clinton

Next thing we know someone will blame him for the wild fires in the west and maybe for causing cancer!!

janelle
06-27-2002, 02:31 PM
No, just for things he did and didn't own up to. Acually when a person denies things they have blantently done you start to wonder just what all they have done--fires, cancer? I'll have to think about it. LOL

Stupid health care? Hillary would have gotten us into a really stupid health system if she wasn't stopped. If you think insurance is crazy now it would have been impossible if her thing had passed. Socialized medicine.

But should we say that we don't recognize someone as president every time we disagree with him, don't like him, don't like his personal life, his politics, didn't vote for him, etc?

That would have left me without a president for many years.

I don't like Clinton, never voted for him. As for socialized healthcare, they do have it in many parts of the world. I believe Canada does? Any medical insurance, even socialized is better than none. The AMA was lobbying very hard against any government health plan as doctors huge fees and salaries would have taken a nosedive if there was such a plan.

Did any of you hear what she had to say about Joan Rivers? That was so funny and very true.

In the July issue of Rosie magazine, Rosie commented that Rivers "didn't look human" in an article about body image and plastic surgery. Since then, the press has been asking her about her supposed feud with Joan. "So I say in my magazine, she does not look human, and it is as if the world exploded for Joan Rivers, (it was) just a little taste of what she's given every celebrity for 20 years. There's no feud. This is just fact -- she's made a living out of being mean. She now looks like an alien. Fact!"

Rosie went on to explain, "If you want to be in the media you have to pretend not to notice that she looks like an alien. I'm not trying to hurt her essence or discredit her, her soul. I'm saying, fact is, she looks weird. I am not willing to pretend I don't see it anymore ... I don't want to be her friend, I thought she was mean for years."

Be nice to have some kind of plan that allowed those that need health care to get it. As for Clinton he only got caught at what many other presidents did and didnt get caught.. the media is more prolific now with tv and radio and such. In the past the media wouldnt dare say anything against the president. Most of the country didnt even know FDR was in a wheelchair. Such things werent talked about. then there was Kennedy and his revolving door..lol So dont put it all on Clinton, alot of presidents have been there, just wasnt as widely reported. Even Thomas Jefferson.. but we wont go there..LOL JMO :)
Whether you like him or agreed/ disagreed with him he was still YOUR president too..

We can respect the office but we don't have to respect the man. that's democracy. And yes I didn't respect those other presidents after I found out what they had been up to. Abusing their power for their own selfish ends.

As for socialized health care people who have it hate it. My husband had been to Canada and talked to the people. As for the docs they are being driven crazy with the insurance companies. My husband is an office administrator for four docs and they have to spend literally hours and hours with paper work. The patient gets ignored because of all the paperwork. The insurance companies go back and forth and finally tell the docs we will only reemburse this much for that procedure so eat the rest. So the docs have to write a lot off. This does not encourage people to become docs.

The only difference between the top politicians nowadays is who gets caught doing what. With Clinton, it just happened to be sex. Get into the history of any president, and sooner or later the dirty laundry starts flying high ('cept maybe Carter; haven't researched him that extensively).

If the American Public was paying attention to even a fraction of the immoral and underhanded crap going on in government (being committed by both Democrats and Republicans), there would be a full-scale Revolution.

My daughter has friends in Canada and they love the health care system and are worrying it will be taken away, the insurance companies all came out here putting ads on TV about how if its a government run health care system that you won't be able to choose your doctor and all that BS. The American public fell for it like a ton of bricks. Well if you have health care through most insurance companies right now, guess what; they choose your doctors in your area you can go to or you end up paying more to that drs office. All drs office are covered up in insurance forms and now the insurance tells your doctor what procedures he is allowed to do and get paid for it and they the insurance company decides whether you need it or not, your medical needs are not determined by the doctor but the insurance companies looks at the drs. diagnosis and determines what they are willing to pay for and how long you stay in the hospital. And for all you people who have insurance and kicked and screamed about government run health care for everyone one day you might not have insurance and you might not have any money either and you get sick well try throwing yourself on the mercy of those insurance companies, who are so concerned about your healthcare needs and making sure its not government run, with no money, no job see how much concern you get then. Also what if you are among the working poor working in a job that doesn't provide healthcare benefits to its employees and thats the only job you can get, and you make one dollar more a month than the cutoff amount for help and your kid gets sick and you have only a certain amount of money to buy groceries and you are totally almost out or you take your child to the doctor and then you pay for prescriptions and then you have to try and figure out a way to feed everyone, well whats your choice feed all the kids or let one go sick and pray that its not as serious as you think. I've been there done that and I know what its like to be the working poor and not have access to health care and be led out of a doctors waiting room and be told either pay the doctor bill up front or take your sick child and get the he!! out of here. So believe whatever the insuance companies tell you about having your best interest at heart. And just pray that circumstances never put you without insurance. Right now I have two insurances to cover my care but I wish everyone in this country had access to good quality health care. As for Clinton I don't care what the man does sexually as long as its between consenting adults, while he was in office there was more job opportunities and the government was better run fianancially and most Americans were doing better fianancially than ever before and since. I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.

Love Rosie, she "rules"
Hate Joan, she is MEAN and does look like an alien
Voted for Clinton and wish he could have kept his pants
zipped, but I didn't hate him until he did the Pardons
when he left the White House and STOLE all of that
furniture. Let me tell you if you or I stole that much
stuff when we moved out of a house, our butts would be
in jail! I hate Hillary, but we need to do something
about health care in this nation for all children and all
elderly.

What Clinton did was between consenting adults but it also went to show his character. Rememer Jennifer Flowers? He was in great denial with her also. I for one am so glad Monica was a bit of a psycho and kept the dress without taking it to the cleaners or we never would have been given the truth. Didn't vote for the man and thought he was a bit too smooth and a shyster back then. Also think the same about Kennedy but at least he didn't have a Hillary to contend with. Maybe Bill married into his own worst hell!!

Rosie-She's not perfect just like the rest of us, but I do believe she has her heart in the right place when it comes to children and support of their causes. Donny Osmond deserved all he got and brought it onto himself.

Socialized health care- I have a lot of relatives in Canada. My cousins husband needed knee surgery and had to wait almost 2 years to get it because it was considered 'elective'. Not so elective when you are the one on crutches. It has it's good points and it's bad. They also pay way more taxes than we do to get that 'free' health care. Just something to think about.....

FIRST SEASON OF HER SHOW --- Donny mad some "unkind" remarks about her weight - on her show - to her face. She had said some rather overly flattering things about him in which she was sincere; but he thought were sarcastic.

He eventually apoligized by singing "Puppy Love" to her live on her show - dressed in a GIANT PUPPY COSTUME ! MEA CULPA !

I still don't get why everyone is so upset about the Clinton thing. I mean, yeah, he lied to the country about who he was and wasn't sleeping with... but really... it was NONE OF OUR BUSINESS. Our presidents have been boinking their interns for years... why suddenly does it matter? Yes, lying was wrong... what he should have politely said is 'it's none of your business' and moved on. But ppl in my opinion shouldn't have been asking him to begin with. The only person it should have ever mattered to is Hillary... and if she can stay married to him despite his indiscretions, then I'm sure I can forgive him of them as well.

It is plain and simple.

HE LIED UNDER OATH

Further - he lied to his staff, and had them lie to everyone else for him. He involved (and destroyed the reputations of) members of his staff to cover up his actions.

what he should have politely said is 'it's none of your
business' and moved on.

I agree one-hundred per cent. But he didn't.
He chose to lie.
He chose to involed others in furthering his lies.
Even when caught - he continued ( and in my opinion, continues) to lie.
It is about character.
It is about trust.

And just how is being a lying, cheating, indiscriminate sob with a poor lack of judgement in his personal life differ from who he is in his public life. I don't think the guy changes because he puts on a fancy suit and gets a title put after his name. If you can't trust him or respect his decisions..... JMHO
