I like HGTV. I have learned alot from designing, decorating to repairing. Great shows.

I started out watching Trading Spaces on TLC but that went by the wayside and I drifted to HGTV and I find it very entertaining. Of course my eyes pop out of my head on some of the shows where they tell us what their house payment will be..........in some instances nearly $2800 and those are not million dollar homes! EEEEEK!!!! Or the condo fees.(what's the proper term?)..thousands of dollars....or buying a place that has maybe one parking space, if you're lucky to get that, or you have to pay for one a block away, and so on. Ridiculous. LOL!

Yeah... the prices make my eyes bug out for sure. We bought a relatively small house (but it's just us and the dogs, so it's plenty big) at 1300 sq ft. We payed 113 for it (our payment is 1100 but we're on a 15 year note). I see houses on House Hunters that are sometimes even smaller than hours for hundreds of thousands more... it's crazy! I hear what they do for a living too and I'm like how can they afford that amount. I know markets and wages are different by location but man... it's crazy. I know w/ taxes in our area and interest rates a million dollar house is about 10 grand a month to pay for on a 30 year note... I can't imagine a scenario, even if we could afford it, paying a 10k note monthly... maybe if we had kids or something... I don't know, it just seems crazy!

A million dollar home at 5% would be around $ 5,500.00 per month for 30 years - which is crazy and about $ 8,000.00 for a 15 year without taxes and homeowners ins. Which means the taxes and insurance is at least $ 4,500.00 per month. EEEKKK. We have high homeowners insurance in Florida due to hurricanes but nothing like that.

CSI without Grissom was bad however IMHO without Willows it is unwatchable.
I love & hate HGTV shows. I love watching the ideas and the house hunting shows. What I really hate about those shows is that they show a design using 'concept' materials which in the real world have never been produced therefore not available. Then there are also products that can only be located on the west coast. Try explaining that to customers who think it is just that easy to pick-up a new cabinet or countertop line. In order to bring in a new product we need to be able to dedicate a certain amount of square footage to them which isn't practical just for 1 potential customer who wants an out-of-the-box custom design.
Last year we had a customer who insisted we find this really strange flooring. It had metal & glass embedded in it & was such a strange color. It could not be found anywhere in the US. He was finally able to track it down in Italy, spent thousands on the floor, thousands to ship it here by boat only to find out no one knows how to install it here. A year later he is still not even a 1/3 of the way done & has burned through 4 sub-contractors.
In the end I am just happy all he bought from us was a vanity & medicine cabinet.

Have to agree on those HGTV shows doing stuff strange. The one I can't stand is Holmes on Homes. He is just an idiot. The one and only episode I partially watched I wanted to strangle him for being so stupid. Yes STUPID. He went and tore out a woman's deck and kept complaining that the original deck was not on Sonitube. He is stupid - Sonitube is a CARDBOARD form that is used to pour concrete into and is removed once the concrete hardened. I sent a e-mail to HGTV about him and got a "form letter"
back thanking me for my interest in the show.

The new one is people wanting to use "green' products & are amazed how much more expensive it is. It's like comparing the price of regular produce to the price of organic.
Sandy I just love those shows when they state something as fact when you know they are 100% wrong! Those fligging shows are the ones that really annoy me, code is code, you can't change or ignore it to fit your budget. I wonder if any of those flippers were sued after one of these shows aired. I always tell our customers, especially those with older homes, to double their budget because you never know what is behind those walls once they are openned up. My budget doubled & my home newer.

It seems, in the past few years, that her character hasn't been focused on as much as in the past so I really haven't missed her as much as I missed Grissom. In an ideal world, they would both be back. But then I would miss Danson. LOL!

Those flippers drive me nuts. I love when they get busted for not having permits. Then they have the gall to complain that the building dept is holding up their flip. They should not be allowed to pull permits on those homes anyway since they are not contractors.

Stupid Comcast cable. I got cable again this past july. It was ok but I like to watch a local channel, WGN in the early morning for news and late night because I stay up late. However 6 days out of 7, WGN would not come. in. I would get a dark scren that had some code. I got fed up and started complaining and getting credit for the day. But after months of it I got fed up and cancelled the cable TV and turned in our boxes 3 weeks ago. Friday Comcast calls. I think they want to offer me a deal to get me back but NO!. They want to schedule a time to fix our problem. Sorry. I cancelled you guys. Problem solved. I replaced you with Netflix and Hulu plus and I am saving over $135 a month. Looking for another netflix type streaming thing to fill in the lack of cable. Any ideas?

I have had it with my internet provider! I have problems getting on during the weekend and at nights for the past 3 months. I do online banking so unless I am awake at the crack of dawn I can't get on. Right now is a rare miracle that I can get on. I have called to complain but I keep getting the standard "we are working on it" line. Time to switch to cable. What really sucks is that I live in a small community so my choices are limited due to this ancient grandfathered-in "no-compete" clause so my choice is the lesser of the 2 evils...cable.
