One of my old hs friends who i have on facebook posted the following about the Ft. Hood murders..

I am so appalled by this! What, can't white people who are catholic be capable of the same thing? If someone goes and shoots people up they HAVE to be muslim? How the hell is someone my age this freaking racist and intollerant?

I'm to the point where I'm about to tell him to eff off and never speak to him again. The kicker here is he's married to a black woman! How on earth she puts up with him knowing how he bashes other races, and women is beyond me!

The name of the guy is irrelevant; the fact is if you're looney you're looney despite race creed national origin or religion! He's going as far to say all muslims are horrible people, and i know this to be so untrue!

Has your friend spent any time in the military?

nope we grew up in a middle/upper middle class boro that was mostly white, and apparently his dad was racist too, so that's probably where it's coming from. He's a postman in a predominantly black area, which cracks me up!

As much as I don't agree with alot of the ways my parents raised me I'm so thankful they raised me to be tollerant of all people!

Not all Muslims are bad but I believe this one was. I want to see what comes out when they do more investigations. See is he had ties to al queda or otther extremist muslim groups. Whats scary is this person was counseling other people. Now thats scary.

They said on CNN that he was upset because he was going to be deployed to Iraq. They said on Yahoo.com that he's still alive not dead like they thought and in stable condition.
Mail.com said his name appears on radical discussions on the internet. They said he argued with soldiers that supported the U.S wars. They said he talked on the internet about suicide bombers being equivilent with soldiers that throw themselves on grenades to save their fellow soldiers.

Well... if the news in my neck of the woods (which is 3 hours north of Ft Hood) is accurate... then your friend is wrong on many levels. Name or not (which does sound like one from a Muslim country), they keep saying that he was a recently converted Muslim.

At any rate... while I don't think they should all be beheaded, it IS scary. Last month they stopped two would be terrorists from blowing up buildings. One of those was right here in Dallas (why it didn't get the coverage as the other one that happened on the same day, I don't know)... He was muslim and reportedly in talks w/ the taliban... racist or not... it's freaking scary what's going on in the world right now... no matter where it's coming from.

His family has issued a statement saying he was NOT a converted Muslim,that he has always been a Muslim,his family is of Jordanian descent but he was born and raised in Virginia. That he did not want to deploy to Iraq.

What is most shocking to me is that he was a mental health specialist and a soldier. He knew better than anyone the devastating effects this would have on every soldier everywhere. We consider our military posts sanctuaries,a place where we feel safe and secure. Maybe it is because we are a military family,his religion has no real bearing on what he did. The fact that he was a soldier is hard enough but to add to it that he was a mental health specialist,it really hurts.

We are still waiting on word from a friend that's stationed there,we have texted him but nothing so far...
