When I heard of the horror at Ft.Hood, my thoughts were similar. It was emotion that took over. They were apparantly watching him but the dr reacted before we could stop him. The off with their heads remark is basicly the same as the muslim radicals feel about us. Is this ok? I know many muslims. Most are good people. But the problem lies when you hear no condemnadtion of the action from non-radical muslims in actions such as those that occured at Ft.Hood.
Me.

I'm so happy I've heard from the friend I have there and the fact my husband was sent to training in AZ instead of TX. I also hope that the people who feel completely safe on post realize horrible things can happen ANYWHERE.

I am sure they know as well as I do,that bad things happen everywhere. They are soldiers. But what I meant was that a military post to alot of soldiers, spouses and children is the one place they can decompress because they/we are surrounded by people that are military. They expect snarky remarks and such about their job choice from those that have no idea what military life is like. The last thing they expect is for one of their own to do something like this. My husband was caught in the crossfire on OCT 95 when Kreutzer killed 1 soldier and wounded 20 while they were in formation for PT. Before this happened, the only time I saw my husband cry was when I had given birth to our kids. My husband, cried, not because he had been injured but because he was injured by a fellow soldier. It changes who you are and I dont think until you have been through it,and have witnessed what it can do to someone, you cant get a grasp on it.

No we haven't. I spoke with his mother this morning and she has been in contact with the RedCross. He is not among those listed dead, she didnt say anything else but from her tone I know that he is not alright. She was advised not to say anything more than that. Thanks for asking.

Interesting idea for a post----can someone be racist and be married to a black woman? Not sure how he can be one and the same but it is interesting to think about. Confusing.

We're at Fort Campbell and I've heard so many of my friends say they're safe living on post. They leave their doors unlocked. They don't watch their kids as closely as they would if they lived off post. They've made comments that bad things can't happen once you go through the gates. There were two attempted child abductions in September and they couldn't grasp the fact that bad things happen everywhere. I had people get mad because I said it doesn't matter where you live, you have to watch your children closely. There's nowhere that is completely safe.

To me the name is irrevelant. What he did was tragic. There are many other ways he could have avoided going to serve. He could have just gone awall. I do NOT know the ins and outs of military. But my brothers were both in the national guard. One got a dishonorable discharge and one honorable .And there are ways he could have avoided going overseas WITHOUT taking a life.
