this happening is just pure sad-thats the main thing here-innocent people were hurt and died-my heart goes out to all the familys
as for the rest-i think we should all wait until it is investigated, before we say anything.
lets just keep the familys in our hearts and prayers
you should tell your friend"JUDGE NOT LEAST YE BE JUDGED"
AT LEAST UNTIL WE KNOW THE TRUTH.JMOO

Being educated in the mental health field doesn't stop someone from losing touch w/ reality when they know they are about to be deployed to a land of war. I don't think that (and I know you didn't say it did) has ANYTHING to do w/ someones race or education... ppl lose their grasp on reality all the time.

Im not defending anyone, but I want to say something, and hopefully not get flamed for it. When I heard of the Story, it come to me that it must have been a soldier who had the post traumatic stress disorder. Then I heard the name of the soldier who done it... I am NO WAY prejudice. NO WAY!! BUT...it did pop in my head, I wonder if it is a terrorist attack or something similar. With all that has been going on, how can you not?

Its sad what he did to keep from being deployed. He had to have had a mental breakdown or something because to kill people just so you don't have to go is not thinking rationally. They said he didn't want to kill fellow muslims that was one of the reasons he didn't want to go, that and he didn't believe in the wars.

He was a mental health professional, an officer, and a doctor. He wouldn't be killing anyone in Iraq unless they were trying to kill him. He'd have been stationed on a post behind guarded gates. The odds that he would have had to kill anyone over there are extremely slim.

I think this is just tragic, but at the same time I do understand how this can happen.
I don't know all the details, so I don't want to comment any further.
I can say, though, that I'm glad hubby went to TN instead of TX

just because he is a doctor, does not necessarily mean that he would never have to go outside the wire. They do; so do the cooks.

There was a wife I know who made the comment about his last name was why he did it. I pointed out to her that's like saying because she's blonde and has big boobs, she's dumb. (She didn't think it was funny! LOL) A person's name has nothing to do with what his future actions may be.
I'm so happy I've heard from the friend I have there and the fact my husband was sent to training in AZ instead of TX. I also hope that the people who feel completely safe on post realize horrible things can happen ANYWHERE.

I don't think it was only that he didn't want to go, but he didn't want Muslims killed....therefore kill those 'who are killing muslims'.... If it was just a matter that he didn't want to go, he could've killed himself....he didn't do that, he was 'defending' muslims and securing his place with Allah, just like a suicide bomber (in his mind).
Now, it can be debated whether he was mentally ill or just a religious fanatic or are religious fanatics mentally ill? *and I don't mean for it to be 'debated' here*

I didn't say "he would never have to go outside the wire." I said the odds are extremely slim that he'd have to shoot anyone.
