Wells Fargo is the WORST bank!!!!
I’m so finally done with Wells Fargo. They have been okay up until now. I’ve been with them since 2002. I haven’t had a job since the end of May and then was on unemployment and had the checks direct deposited in the account. Well, my unemployment was lost the middle of August and so I haven’t had any money going in the account except to pay 2 bills. When I have to pay those I would just deposit the money a few days before they were due since those companies had my Wells Fargo banking info to draft it out.
Well, I went to day to put in $30 to pay a bill that is due tomorrow and the receipt said $10 available so I logged on to my account to see why it didn’t show the full $30 and on Oct 28th they charged me a $12.00 account fee and then again on Nov 2nd and 3rd they charged me a negative balance fee of $5.00 each time. So now they have charged me $22.00 for not having money direct deposited in my account. OK so why didn’t they charge me in September and October when I didn’t have direct deposits in there either?? So I called them on it and asked if as a courtesy so I can be able to pay my bill they reverse the fees since not only didn’t they send me something to say…”Hey look you haven’t been using your account and we will start charging you if you don’t make deposits” They also didn’t send me an email on October 28th when my account went negative due to the $12.00 fee!!! They always send me emails or something in the postal mail if my account has ever gone negative! The guy told me that it’s not their responsibility to notify me about that (yet they always have) and that he was only going to be able to credit back $16 of the $22! WTF that is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard yet I have had them credit back $32 overdraft charges what is another $6 freakin dollars??
I mean heck give me some credit for still paying my bills even without a job! I have sold everything I can out of my house just to keep gas in my car, and my bills paid! I have used ALL my savings too so that I could keep my bills up to date and current. I could be like all these other people that loose a job and just figure “Oh well, can’t pay my bills”!!! It’s like they are punishing me for not working Umm ya not working is punishment enough don’t ya think……..and if I could find a job I would but nobody wants to hire me for a mid afternoon shift since I screwed myself by doing full time morning to mid afternoon classes at college. I have to make it through this semester and then take my classes at night so I can get a job in the mornings.
So after school today I’m going to go into a local branch and say you guys are going to fight me over $6.00 dollars then just close my account and shove the $6.00 up you’re A$$es!!!

After stuff I have heard about WF I would NEVER bank with them. My " little' brother that died he had bought a house this late spring. So he had only made a couple payements before his death. He had it set up to have payments taken out of his account.AFTER his death him mom notified the bank OBV. and the next month they continued to take money out. She had the lawyer put a stop to it and close that account. So what do they do the next month they take money out of a CLOSED account. So now it looks like he is deliquent. IDIOTS!

I use to have my mortgage with Wells Fargo. They screwed up so many things so many times. I was so GLAD to get rid of them!

So Sorry we stopped banking at WF back in 1999, and we have friends that have banked at WF for years, they had $ in savings but not enough to reside their house so they wanted to take a loan out for the balance...Wells Fargo denied them....needless to say they no longer bank at WF!

Sorry that happened to you.
When I was out of work and waiting to get unemployment, BOA stared charging me a monthly service fee because I wasn't having anything direct deposited to my account.
Banks are like credit card companies, they can change the terms of your account at will.
Basically you have to read the numerous pages of fine print they send you all the time

Some companies just don't get it. Yes it is your responsibility to take charge of your account, but if they notice someone is getting charged month after month for the same thing don't they think a courtesy call should be given?
Our internet was set up for auto bill pay and apparently the debit card that was attached to the account expired. We went 6 months without paying the bill and only realized what happened when we tried to log on the internet and it wouldn't work. They had come out and disconnected it. So we had to pay the $300 bill plus a reconnection fee. Why didn't they just call us and say hey, you haven't paid your bill instead of letting it go so long.

OMG we DESPISE wells fargo, we actually have a name for them that is not appropriate to post here. We will NEVER NEVER EVER use them. I remember when Luke was buying a car years ago and the bank the dealership chose for him to finance through was them. We made them find another bank ASAP b/c there was no way they were going to be used. I seriously think that bank is full of idiots (for reasons I'm not listing) but I'm sure you get the idea. I'm sorry they did this to you. I'll be closing my bank acct. soon too and have no idea where to go. Chase bought out my bank and everything I liked about wamu they're taking away. Free checks are not enough to keep me.. oh and I love the fact that Chase is now going to charge a fee when you check your balance through an ATM I don't know that I would ever have to do that, but I don't like that I may be charged just for checking.

I recommend a credit union if you have one available. They pay MUCH better interest rates. Plus if you do get a loan or whatever that interest rate is ALOT cheaper. I have been with our CU for about 16 years and would NOT go back to a bank. We have little issues with ours because I feel they are to "loose" but its a small branch and I think they need to set more security when you take money etc. But other than that I WAY prefer them over a bank any day of the year.

@Whatever
Ya, I have a Credit Union I just wasn't using it that much but after this I'm going to start using it full time. I just think that charging people for not having direct dep is a joke and there is NO way you can remember all the terms and conditions on your acct after years and years.....

I love my bank. It is a regional bank. They credit before debit. It is their rule. They recognize you and take the time to chat. I wouldn't bank anywhere else.
