I had asked her a question about what she was going to bring, she did not email me back but had dh's sister email me about what she was bringing.

The more we think about it the less we think we will do Thanksgiving dinner here. Probably just have it for us....a lot less drama that is for sure

I would. I would send emails, letters and calls. Only invite those that have always been there for you. You DON'T have to do a big old thanksgiving dinner just because everyone wants you too. As for those that don't ever bother to call or show up for your DD, well they can kiss your butt.

i don't get the entire email invitation thing but just send a blanket email to everyone informing them due to circumstances you will be unable to host Thanksgiving dinner this year.
Say no more than that & do not respond back to anyone who emails asking why you are cancelling.
You are giving them enough notice to make other plans.

They are just using you to get a turkey dinner anyway, right? Cancel. Have didnner for your family. it is only fair. Maybe invite the sister that did come to the b-day party.

Be honest with them. You cant really afford to host it. It will cut too deep into the funds you need to care for your family. If they dont like it, screw them, they are only out for what they can get from you, nothing more , nothing less, big fat users.

Say nothing. Cut off all contact, with no warning to them. Ignore calls or change your phone number. Don't accept emails, packages or anything else from them. If they come over, don't let them in.

You don't have to do this forever. But send the message that their behavior is unacceptable.
