I would find out where he is staying, bag it up, and go throw it on their front lawn!
Give him notice, call him, tell him you have untill such and such date to get his stuff, and if he doesn't, then your getting rid of it, then if he doesn't show up, get rid of it. If you think he will start trouble over it, document it, call the police, tell them that you gave him notice, a cut off date to come and collect his things, and if not, then it goes in the trash, or donation or whatever. That way you will atleast know that you gave him fair warning, and a cut off date to come and collect his things.
I did this with my husband, I actually bagged it up, threw it on the back porch, told him you have untill this date to come and get it, if not, it's suppose to rain, and it'll get ruined. ~ I actually ended up throwing it all in the back of the spare truck out in the yard. I also changed the locks.
