my youngest child...
Eww. That child's mouth. She thinks it is funny to call me a biotch.... GRRR... we have a rule that if you swear you have to do push ups or sit ups... Anyways she just says heck with you and goes to her room- watches tv... I took her tv away and made her sit and write me an apology. Later she told me she was sorry but then preceeds to tell her sister that she is a BLEEPER... Grrr. She is grounded for a week now- no outside, no tv, no computer.... Augh... What do you do when your child swears? Other than soap and hot sauce Mind you see is only 7.

I would make her do a nasty chore like clean the bathroom including scrubing toilet and taking out the trash.
Make her earn her privileges back. Ask her if she knows what she is saying means and where she heard such things. let her know in no uncertain terms that what she is saying is unacceptable, and she will not get away with it. Is she doing it at school too?

when my kids were that age, i would put coffee or instant tea on their tongue and make them hold it there for 10 seconds... its bitter and they DID NOT like it...
NOT much coffee or tea, just enough to get the bitter taste in their mouth.. i dont want ppl thinking i made them hold a mouthful of tea or coffee.. lol

Sounds like she likes the attention no matter if it's negative or positive. The best thing that you can do (even though I'm sure it makes your blood boil) is to stay calm. Think about it now what you are going to do the next time it happens. Next time it happens turn to her in a very calm fashion and tell her "I'm sorry that you think it's o.k. to call me ------ but because you did that I'm going to have to ------". Staying calm and knowing your punishment right away just KILLS them. It's amazing what it has done with our daughter though. We took some Love and Logic classes and if you ever have them offered in your community I definately recommend them.

She doesn't swear in school. The teachers say she is very quiet and only talks when she is called on or if she needs something. I am familiar with P.A.L.S.
i had to take several trainings it when I worked for head start. I personally have never used it on my kids but I will try it. I do like the idea of the instant coffee and tea. I do know where she is getting it- we live in a housing development and she hears all kinds of things. I'm hoping to move outta here someday.

I wish a 'backhand' was legal because if it were my kid that's what I'd be doing.
Sorry you're going thru this.

Lemons also work, when my sons used dirty words,i would make them suck a lemon slice for about 30 seconds, and then no drink after for a few min.-i also made my sons sit indian style in the middle of their beds for 30 min, this helped so much.
Good luck to you, sometimes its just a thing they go through, for attention, maybe you and her can have some one on one doing something together-like reading,a movie, drawing, taking a walk, getting a pop,she is acting out to get attention, lots of children do this, cause they feel lonely.
Good luck to you.

I don't think anyone would really want to know what I would have done if one of my children disrespected me like that.

I called my mom that once... and she promptly had my a$$ on the floor.
If my kids ever try that with me, they will end up the same way.

I knew better than to say those things to my mother or grandmothers... but let me tell you, if I did I would have been sent to get my own switch and my butt/upper legs would have been torn smooth up...
I don't have kids so I don't know the solution... but I know when I was a kid they would put us on a chair in front of a door/wall where you couldn't see ANYTHING but could hear everything... let me tell you, that is absolutely the worst punishment. Okay, I got beat up a lot and I would have rather taken a beating than sit in that chair for hours on end.
