Sounds crazy, but I do have to say that it just isn't right for you to move and let him "win" and make YOU run and move away, that's your home, you own it, you and your DH worked your butt off for it. I would call the cops, every damn day, every damn incident this neighbor gets crappy or loud with you.
And I would also put up the biggest brightest motion censor lights up like someone else suggested. You can also get one of those alarms that sounds like a big ass dog barking, I even heard one where all you here is the "click click" (shot gun being loaded) LOL!!
There's gotta be something you can do, that's just crazy.

Fences make for good neighbors. Have you thought of putting one up?? I would have had one up quite awhile ago. I would also have gates that locked from the inside. I would check with zoning and see how high of a one you could put up and then do it.

I would not advise anyone to shoot anyone with a paintball gun. Shooting with any type of gun is criminal even if it is a bb or paint gun.

Making threats unfortunately are not criminal; the old stick & stones thing & until/if he makes good on his threat the police will not act on it. The verbal threats will also be a "hesaid-hesaid" sort of thing.

A restraining order will only make him madder.

I wouldn't move. I'd definitely get a restraining order. I would also put up motion sensor lights and any video equipment I could get. At least if you got an order and he
disregarded it then you'd have him on tape and could possibly, and I stress possibly, get
something done.
