I'm a city gal myself. When we were in the mountains in CO I wondered if I could live where the wild critters go. People's cats, etc come up missing and stumbling into a bear at night when you come home is not my idea of peaceful living.
It's beautiful though. Walk softly (although I heard wearing a bell is smart to warn them you are coming) and carry a big stick.

I am bored with the bear that seems to be living on our porch. He has torn up the dog ramp and I'm tired of looking up and seeing him staring in at us. The coyotes have been nuts lately and keep waking me up in the middle of the night. I want to be able to put my dog out without having to scout the place out so something doesn't make her a snack.
I'm tired of not having any city services. Yesterday our water tank exploded. Not the hot water tank but the one connected to our pump. DH got it fixed after most of a day without water and we didn't realize until about midnight that the explosion had damaged our furnace. I've had the oven going for a while and it's up to 61* in here. Guess what he gets to do today?
On the other hand we're about to have that most beautiful weekend with the leaves turning and the tourists are almost all gone.

go to the good will and buy some seat coshiens and pillows , then go and get some of those pepper sprays cans that the post office uses for dangerous dogs, spray the pillows and coushins down really good , id put scarves on your face to protect yourself then put them in big green garbage bags,
at nite put them around your porch , and then take them in the next morning
when the wild life comes on your porch the smell will burn their noses which are real sensitive , and they will stay away,
you can spray your garbage cans and a few bushes around your property , this will work too, you can mark your boundrys with this spray , you ll have to renew after rains but it does work,
as to the water pump , not knowing what kind you have cant help you there,
good luck dear, and i live on a mountain also with the cherokee state park at my back , but i do have city water ,,,,,,,,, and love it here,,,,,,,,,,
saw a bear crossing the road down one of the roads by our home , but too many dogs here for them to be comfortable here,,,,,,,
also bears dont seem to like areas where there are packs of dogs , too noisy i think . and they dont eat dogs unless they are starving , call the park they mite be able to relocate the bear if hes staying on your porch, go to the auto zone they have one of those can horns sprayers, spray it out the window on him , if you scare him he mite also avoid your place like the plauge .

yes, lets just piss booboo off and see what happens
man, I would love the country and scenery that you have, but the bear thing would just not cut it for me!!! I love to be outside, and so do the kids, I would feel like a prisoner in my home.
