Add me to the "men" list... long, very long
So years ago I got some gift cards to a local theater and completely forgot about them. Since then the theater added another name, but also had the original and instead of paper GC they became plastic. When I found my gc's again I asked the theater mngr if they could be used and was told they could. Luke really wanted to see "The Hangover" so we decided to go but not before I called a different theater location as the one the gc's were issued at were not playing that movie. I asked them if they accepted the gc's and was told yes. Does this make sense? Anyways we go, wait in the long line (I HATE WAITING!) and get up to the register. The guy, who happened to be the one I spoke to on the phone, helped us. The GC's were for $20 NOT two movie tickets. He wasn't sure how to use them so went and asked. Came back, handed us our tickets and figured that was the end of the transaction. Well... it wasn't, we still had credit coming to us that I wanted to use at the concession. When I asked him about it I was told we don't get credit back. WTF! At that point I just said we'd be taking the GC's back then and gave him the tix as I wasn't losing the extra. I wanted to speak to a manager but Luke just wanted to go. He hates when I confront people and ask for a mngr He usually walks away where he cannot be seen Of course I wasn't going to let it go so once we got home I called and asked to speak to a mngr but got another worker first. She told me that the guy had no idea what he was doing and that we were suppose to get the credit back and now everyone who works there knows and if I come back we can get our credit as long as we get there while the matinee shows are still playing. I told her I wasn't coming back today (since Luke was all ready pissy at me for this) I then spoke to the manager who is leaving me two tickets to any show at anytime I want. WHOO HOO! See, complaining does pay off Bottom line is the person who bought me the GC's spent the full amount, I should not be short changed. Ok I'm done ranting LOL

My husband hates it as well.....UNLESS its an issue he wants resolved, then he is all for me handling it! LOL I agree if you are justified then it usually does pay to stand your ground or complain.
Whenever I go to the register at a store, once I haul out the coupons dh disappears really fast!!

Well since Luke is in such a bad mood, you should take me to the movies instead

Yeah I get that a lot too. I am usually just told to let it go...but sometimes you just have to push people a little to get what you want.

I've always been of the opinion that the squeaky wheel gets the grease and if you don't speak up for yourself, who will? Good for you! My husband's not much for somplaining about food, service, etc. But if it's called for, I absolutely will...and do. He's gotten used to it by now and he's even gotten a little better at it over the years.

I am glad you got it to work the way it was supposed to. It is pretty crumby that you had to go another time.

Aggie walks out, crawls under the tables at restaurants when I start complaining. Doesn't happen often but when it does he's gone.
Last time was about a month ago. I was grocery shopping Aggie was with me. I was checking out handed cashier coupons, credit card. She swiped my card, deducted coupons, printed receipt. Then, handed my CREDIT CARD to Aggie told him thank you, come again.
I was floored. I handed her the credit card, has my name on it, not Aggie's. Matter of fact it has my maiden name on it. That was one day I'm sure that cashier will NEVER forget.
Sorry you had such a bad experience. It does pay to complain most of the time, though.

I'm laughing because I had something similar happen to me recently. I was waiting to be seated at a Red Robin restaurant (hubby had gone to the restroom). Anyway...the host comes by and takes the man standing behind ME to a table. Now, just a few minutes earlier I was the only one standing there and had told that same host that I needed a table for two. When the host approached him, this man said he needed a table for three which would accommodate a wheel chair...and he gestured to the rest of his party. So, it was obvious that I wasn't in his party.
Anyway...I was standing there stunned...but didn't say anything at first. I thought it was just me until another party behind me said, "That host was really rude! He just ignored her (meaning me)." I said, "You saw that too?" They were also women and they replied, "Yea...he just ignored you and went straight to the man in line."
So, when the host came back I asked, "Am I invisible?" He was puzzled and said, "No, why do you ask?" At that point, I blasted him for ignoring me and helping the man first.
He apologized profusely...but I still wonder what was he thinking by walking past me and helping out the man.

My husband and I are the same way. Guess after being a female in the military for the last 27 years, I've definitely learned how to stand up for myself. Put DH and I together and there is no stopping us.
