My cable company is inept

I called to get a credit for lack of service credited to the account. They refused not because we lost service but because the account was in my husband's name and not mine. They said because of identity thief they can not deal with me as far as credit was concerned. I then asked that if I was a thief, why would I be calling them from my cable phone (they do have caller ID) and requesting credit to the owner of the phone (which I was calling on) and not changing anything? We have been with this company for decades and I have always been the one who deals with them. As a matter of fact, the bill is paid on my credit card. End result: they will let me pay the bill, they will let me contact them regarding an outage or for support, they will let me add services, they will let me charge movies on demand BUT they will not allow me to request them to give the billed (hubby) any credit.

I have one word for them A-Holes!

have your DH call them and have you added as with permission to handle the account. Or, call back, you get different results with different people at these call centers.

I have permission to handle the account but they said that I can handle the account...i just can't do anything with billing (even though I can charge movies to the account; change the services etc). I also called back and spoke to another person and they said the same. Thus it appears I can increases our charges, I just can't decrease the charges as far as getting credit charged to the account. It does NOT make sense!!!!!

a lot of companies are like that nowadays. A credit card company billed us in error the other day, and even though I had permission to do things on the account, they had to get my dh (who was in the living room) to give them permission. I think that they are just doing as their higher ups tell them they have to do.

This is SOP with alot of companies now. A few years ago my friends DH died and she wanted to cancel his cell phone and could not because it was in just his name, so she had to send in a death certificate to be able to do it. After her telling me that, I and my DH contacted all of our billings, power, telephone, water and had both of our names put on and since then no problem.

It has got to be charter, they are Aholes squared. One time I sent my mom to pay the bill for me and they would not accept it because she wasn't me. Keep in mind, PAY A BILL, not change service.
