DH called the cable company last night and read them the riot act. He told them that he has given permission for me years ago to handle anything to do with their company and he expects them to follow through with his wishes. He also emphasized that hto treat his wife the way I had been treated was unconscionable and he would not tolerate it. The CS was apologetic and promised that this would go to a higher level with a notation that this was high priority and he agreed that what happened shouldn't have happened. Also that a person higher up would call the house today and speak to me. Of course this could have been just lip service and would most likely happen again. I am looking into switching to FIOS so that I will be prepared to wave my middle finger at them if necessary.

ok here goes it from the other side of the coin lol I am a customer service person for a cable company.. We HAVE to verify the account whether or not your name is on the account make sure you have the account number the last 4 numbers of the social sec number and or the last payment amount. No matter if the call is about credit or payment or just account info you would be amazed at the amount of people that call to try and get any info and use all kinds of excuses. We are talking neighbors, exes, bill collectors, even private eyes. If you called in with just a telephone number and you expect to be given the amount due or the amount getting back forget it. I know of cases when someone was due a refund and before we had all this security was able to find out when it was coming to his exes and went and got her mail and got the refund.
We need to verify all information for you own safety folks not for our fun

Whenever I call them they go thru the whole verification list. I have been thru it so many times, I just give them everything at once. The only thing they haven't asked me for is my shoe size! I just called and got the automated info on my bill and no credit! They also never called as promised. I am so disgusted with them. I once had a problem with my internet. They kept telling me that it wasn't on their end (standard generic response). They sent repair people and of course before the ppl came out they informed me that I might have to pay for this service. They came into my house, checked the wires, checked my computer and kept coming to the conclusion it was maybe on their end. After 9 months of this, someone climbed the outside pole and found a rusty piece of something! I had 9 months of disconnecting, cs and repair people telling me that there was probably a squirrel or a bird on the line and thus disconnecting me, that it was raining etc....and it was on my end and not theirs. Once when reporting an outage, they informed me that there was no outage and I should go door to door and ask all the neighbors and then report back to them. I told them I would do it when they sent me my pay check. Oh...and after 2 hours they finally got enough calls to inform me that there was an outage. Many ppl around here have given up trying to call them to report outages since when there is one, you can't get thru to the company. They now have a thing that if they are too busy, a recorded message comes on stating that all their reps are busy and we should try calling them at another time and then it hangs up on you. I should also mention that 99.9% of the time, I am the one who calls in the problems to them and not dh. I am sure my name is plastered all over their computer screens when looking back at out records.

I had to give Charter the riot act the other day... I called with a very simple question, what is the # to the company that handles your promos? The first girl in CS told me she didn't know and asked what else she could do to help... so I asked for her Sup. who told me that she MIGHT have it and got real snotty with me, so I asked for her Sup. and she proceeded to tell me that she didn't have a Sup. she WAS the main "lead" on the floor, then proceeded to tell me that "HE" couldn't come to the phone anyway. She suddenly knew the 800 # when I asked to be transferred to Retention/Cancellation, and also told me there was no such department. That's when the battle became a war...I went off on the Retention CSR and she said "Instead of dealing with this, I am going to transfer you to my Supervisor..." and I FINALLY got results. All I ever wanted was the 75.00 Visa that Charter offered for signing up and I even ordered DVR the day BEFORE! So the woman gave me a 75.00 credit for the the way I was treated. THEN the Tech came out to the WRONG house the next day and cancelled the order because the guy who answered said I didn't live there... um how about you check the address before you knock?! So I called back and gave them holy Hell. But lucky for them my cell phone died... so I called John from one of the work phones, and told him what happened...so HE called them and basically told them they were lucky that I was at work and that I couldn't call...and to please fix the situation before I called back. LMAO! So they came back out within an hour and now I have a DVR...so I am pleased... for now. :P

Do you mind if I ask which cable company? You can pm it to me if you like, I wont spread it around. The reason I ask is because I have SuddenLink. It used to be known as Cebridge and before that Telemedia. I have called SEVERAL times and paid my MILs cable bill over the phone. I usually call, select the option for billing, and then tell the lady I want to pay my MILs bill, her address is such-n-such and her phone number is ### ### ####. They let me pay it every time.

lol, ok. I just find it odd that with my mail getting filled with letters about privacy and how all these companies are protecting my privacy, some are from companies I havent done business with in YEARS, that the cable company would just let me pay her bill with no questions. Once, they even let me pay mine at the same time and just did one large charge on my debit card.

Get this, LOL.. We have Comcast because they bought out Time Warner who had bought out Adelphia. We have had cable with them for now 4 years. Somewhere in the the buyouts our info was screwed up and they have the last 4 of my hubby's social wrong. They wont talk to us about the account because they say we cant verify the info! He even went to the local office and showed them his military ID and SS card! Still when we call the 1-800 number they wont talk to either of us without a huge fight. I am in the process of moving and I am praying the new town has more than one cable company, I never want to deal with comcast again!
