Do people not know what "no soliciting" means? - Big Big Forums

Seriously.. I'm just wondering b/c altho we have the sign on the door we still get ppl ringing our bell trying to sell us crap. This morning, altho they were not selling me anything, these two aholes ring my bell before 10 am (which usually I am still sleeping as I'm a night owl) and say they are looking for families who speak spanish and ask me if I know if any of my neighbors do. WTF!

How farking rude! Ev Suggested I need to get a sign that says "beware of dog" as well.. I think I might do that but put Beware of my Rottweiler (in english and spanish) and see if that doesn't stop the annoying disturbances

Or maybe people who are not delivering goods or welcome here will meet my 100+ pound rottweiler... I wonder if that would work? LOL I'm like that cranky old lady who doesn't want ppl on her lawn. If I wanted their goods and services though I would call them, LEAVE ME ALONE!

One day I hope to have a security camera w/ an intercom so if I don't recognize them I can ask what they want and if they're selling me crap I can respond w/o the dogs going crazy in the background if they do not know what no soliciting means...

I hate that! We live in the bible belt, so 10 churches will show up at different times wanting my kids to go. I politely respond that they already have a church but thanks. 2 wks later there will be another one or 2 or 3. Drives me nuts. My dogs are going crazy, someone is usually calling me, etc etc. its like leave us alone dang

I put a sign up, guard dog on duty, it worked. Maybe we all need to buy this sign

they come at all times.......... lol and they are so young,,,,,,,,,,, i hate sounding rude but please ........... go home ...........

hmmm... we don't have church people come around here. Could be b/c when they do I tell them I don't believe in God

It seems to work b/c I honestly don't know the last time a JW came to our door. Again, if i wanted to go to their church I would look them up TYVM

I have the same problem. I swear they just cannot read the No soliciting sign or they dont know what it means. I also get the people wanting me to point out the Spanish speaking families on my block. What is up with that??? Most of my block speaks Spanish but I sure as heck am not going to point them out! And when they go to their houses, they tell them they only speak English! LOL

I hate solicitors! I cannot find a no soliciting sign anywhere in this town! Next time we're out of town, I am hunting one down! I'm even hunting one down in spanish!

We have mormons who live right next door to us so we get missionaries often. The JW are bad around here. If you don't answer your door they shove the pamphlets and stuff under your door. I walked into my door and had like 15 pieces of paper on the floor from them. They'll also fill your mailbox with stuff.

I was just telling DH today that some dude was knocking at the door just before dusk the other night, selling something & I yelled thru the door that I don't answer the door after dark & he wanted to argue with me that it wasn't dark yet. I felt bad for the kid, it was hella hot & being a door to door salesman these days has got to be rough, but C'mon...
We have about 5 signs on our property, Beware of Dogs, No Tresspassing, No Soliciting, yet peope still knock.

I wish that worked around here. If I tell them that they ask "But arent you afraid for your salvation?". Uhh no. I'm quite happy with my one way ticket, thanks.

Solicitation is illegal in my city. You can call the cops and they will give them a ticket. I did once call the cops cause the guy seemed shady and he ended up getting arrested for warrants... but usually I just scream through the door (and over the dogs) that I'm not interested. I refuse to even open the door any more.

I dont really have the problem the poor Fed Ex person UPS leave the package on my doorstep and run. The last time I had a JW (yes my gram is one) come to my door I have half my door is metal the other half is window and covered with curtain. I said i cant open the door they said why not next thing you know the dogs jumped up barking scared the poor person so bad they jumped back so far landed on top of my gas grill and took off. That ended that for me. If anyone knocks on my door and wakes me up they better hope to god it is the dogs they tangle with and not me. They might come out alive if the dogs get ahold of them !
