I just can't get ahead
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! *&#^#^
ok, I don't feel any better. I hate looking for a job. I was informed on mon that I needed to find a job.(yesterday my work closed it's doors) So I've been looking since then and no one has called me back. I've got a good track record, been with the same job for the last 2 yrs, got glowing references, but still nothing. I'm already behind on my bills, from being layed off for 3 weeks in dec./jan. I've looked at work from home jobs and they all want money to get started, well guess what if I had money, I wouldn't be behind on everything. My life has just sucked the big one since early nov. Someone please tell me that it will get better, cause I don't think I can handle it getting much worse.

Many of us know how you feel and can relate. Yes, it will get better. You have to think that way, other wise it won't.
I know many people don't want to hear it, but if you have to take a job at Wal Mart or Mc's, then take it. Anything to keep some money rolling in. You can look for something else in spare time. Just keep some money coming in,and keep yourself off the streets.
good luck to you.

Have hope, you have only been looking for a couple of days, that is really to soon to expect someone to call you back. Hang in there and give it some time before you get discouraged. Keep your chin up and apply everywhere even if it isnt your dream job, it might tide you over until you get an awesome job. Sorry to hear about your job loss

Oh I totally understand. I'm in the same boat as you. I WAS at a fairly good paying job... then because he under-estimated his expenses, it's a new business, he let me go due to lack of work. I was there a month. I left another job for him. But like you I've applied at every major retailer in town, been turned down by 3 so far. Also filed unemployment...waiting back on that one. The only thing keeping me going is that my boyfriend is truly an angel... he doesn't seem to mind I've been out of a job for 2 weeks now. I've only been with John since December and I've been living here about a month now...he is just so understanding.
I hope it works out for us both.

I've applied everywhere in my immediate surroundings. I live in the city and there's a mall 3 blocks away and almost every store has a now hiring sign in the window, you'd think if they were that desperate to get someone in there, that they'd be doing call backs already. I know I have to give it time, but I can't stand just sitting here and waiting.
I guess I'm just frustrated, my life has been tore up since nov, and I was finally getting back on track with it, now this. I'm off to the unemployment office with my little layoff notice.

HUGS! I am totally in the same boat. I was lucky because I knew the owner of the store I work at now and they offered me a pt job doing odd jobs because they knew I needed the work. I applied at a TON of places and not one called me back -yet I have awesome references, experience etc etc!!!!! And I didnt qualify for unemployment so I didnt have that to help!

also restaurants, some may not pay much, but when I was a single mom, tips saved my life, I had money in pocket every day.
If you do apply at walmart, I know here that the night shift pays even better simply because you are working at night.
It will get better, it's just hard to see that right now since you are going through the storm.

How about trying temp agencies? Places take so long to interview and hire it seems. If you have a resume together, it would be so easy for you to just email it to companies you think you'd like to work at.

Hang in there! Something will come your way. Keep on applying places and start calling the places where you did put in applications. Let them know you are ready to work! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!
