Health Insurance VENT and I might have skin cancer
About a month ago I got this "thing" on my face. Thought it was a pimple but it didnt go away, got bigger and now looks scaly and funky. I am self employed and the only health insurance I could get and afford is some stupid shiet that no one has heard of and most drs dont take. Anyway, I looked up a dermotologist that was listed on the plan....there were only 2 drs on the list in ALL of the Chicago area! Both are in "seedy" areas etc. So I pick one and go. I didnt even want to sit down on the chairs in the waiting room it was so dirty and funky. But I HAVE to get this thing looked at. The dr barely spoke English and I could hardly understand him. But he seemed nice and the exam rooms were VERY clean-in sharp contrast to the rest of the place. He took one look at it and said "Cancerous" without even taking a biopsy etc. He rambled off some long arse name of what it was. He took a biopsy of the one on the face and a few moles I have on my body that he thought "looked suspicious" (at least I think that is what he said). Anyway, he said its going to take at least a week to get the results back. So now I sit here and wait. I am going NUTS.

Good Luck! I know how it feels to have to sit around & wait for possible bad news. I hope it comes up benign.

Do you spend a lot of time in the sun? Both my mother and grandmother have had them removed from their face. My grandmother passed away several years ago but she used to love sitting in the sun. She never used sunscreen. Her doctor told her to wear a wide brim hat and use sunscreen if she was going to be out in the sun but she chose not to. My mother never purposely sat out in the sun and she still got them. After removing them the doctor gave them some cream to apply to the area and then he would have them go back in a few weeks. I hope you have good results.

I hope everything turns out all right. From this and your other post, sounds like your insurance is more trouble than what it's worth I'm sorry you have to deal with it.

I know you can't help but worry but I have had several removed. The smaller they are when they get them the better. I had a bigger one on my hand, about the size of a dime and even it didn't leave a scar. Melanoma is about the only kind of skin cancer to be really worried about. Good luck.

My dh had a little tiny patch that looked like that. He would pick at it. I kept nagging him to have it looked at. FINALLY last time he went to have his blood pressure checked they froze it off. They think it was the starts of skin cancer as he is going fairly bald and works at a marina as a boat tech. But is in the sun ALOT in the summer.
I really hope yours comes back negative. My FIL had it also. They removed his also a month ago. They said it can come back. NOT what you want to hear. But if it is where a Hat or protective wear to prevent.
Good luck!!

I went threw this a while back with my mother. Think possitive that it's nothing. Most places they remove are not cancerous. And skin cancer is very easy to treat. Most skin cancers are removed and that is the end of it. Hugs are with you. I know what your going threw. Just stay positive and everything will be fine.

I'm hoping all turns out well. Sorry you're having to wait. That's the toughest part. Good thoughts and prayers sent your way.
