I would think a woman and her kids alone in a new neighborhood at night would still have their doors locked. Glad everyone is safe.

Some towns are quite small, little country towns where people still leave their doors unlocked, where crime rate is low,I grew up in a town like this, doors were left open so that your family members needed to come home, the door was always open, the feeling of peaceful, safe rest is all but gone this day and age.
This lady prob had her door open for cool air, maybe had just been outside,or took her animals potty, maybe unloading the car. Its a terrible thing that a person cant even keep the front door open to enjoy the night air.
I feel for you,and the lady next door.

My parents live in Florida. My mother got a gun several years ago because there had been some break ins in the gated community that they live in. She went to classes to learn how to use it and is licensed to carry it. A cop half jokingly told her that if someone is on her property to shoot them and drag them inside the house. lol

I defintely will shoot first and then ask questions. Cause if you are in my backyard you are either lost and better state that you are or you are up to no good. We live back off in the woods. If I dont get likelys are a bear will.

Why would he pick her house way back in the woods? Sounds like he knows this family. Maybe an ex-boyfriend?
