That is a generic for Prednisone. It will help with redce the inflammation in your lungs to assist you with breathing. There are some side effects prednisone but they are only after a long period of time. If for some reason you do start to get a "heart-burn" feeling I would let your doctor know, but they will most likely have you take either Prevacid or Protonix to counter act this feeling.
I feel your pain. In the doctors office I work at we have a ton of people fighting similar things.
GOOD LUCK....I HOPE YOU HAVE A SPEEDY RECOVERY

Yes, prednisone is a steroid and, like all medication, can have some side effects, but those don't usually affect most people. It can be a miracle drug and you should starting feeling better within a day or so. As long as it isn't long-term, you should have no problems with this drug.

The one thing I can honestly saw is that this med is helping my "trigger finger" but it isn't helping me breathe any easier.

I know how you feel - when I took it the slightest things would set me off. It was like I was on edge 24/7. That is what I meant by "crazy". My BFF just laughed at me because she had taken it about 6 months before I had to take it and she had the same reaction to it. I only took it for that one week and I was so glad to get that stuff out of my system.
Sorry it isn't helping with the breathing that would be very scary to me. Hope it kicks in soon.

Oh man Sandy that is how I feel. I am driving my boss crazy. One minute I am sweating up a stom opening all the windows & truning on the A/C. Then I am freezing cold & wearing a sweater, jacket & turning on the space heater under my desk.
I am not hungry & can not sleep.

Prednizone did that to my husband when he first started using them. But he's had to use them so often with his COPD that they don't effect him that way now. He had the hot flashes and couldn't sleep and was really antsy he couldn't sit still. His doctor always told him to make sure he did the step down because its dangerous if you stop taking them without stepping down. You can't just stop taking them.

my 13 yr old son has to take Prednisone for his asthma, He takes one pill every other day unless he is having an excaberation, then he's on the taper down dosage, he is SO emotional, you'd think he was a girl with PMS, he also eats like a pig (well, actually, I think ALL 13 yr old boys do that) and while he has not really gained weight, his face is all puffy, and it looks like a complete circle., I hope eventually he can come off it, but every time they take him off completely, he ends up in the hospital within a couple of weeks.
