This will sound crazy but, is the one that lived going to the bathroom? I tried to save a newborn kitten once and found out that something about the mother cat licking them aids in them using the bathroom. Didn't know it and my kitten died. I found out later you can sort of simulate the same reaction by using a damp washcloth. Don't know if anyone else knows more about this, but just thought I'd add it.

Awww I'm so sorry the little guy didn't make it. I hope the other one pulls through. You are doing all you can. I grew up on a farm and it broke my heart when a kitten died so I know how you feel.

You're right. But turn the kitten on it's back when you use the rag. Seems to be more effective that way.

Winni (this is the name i gave Her, cause she meows alot. So its kind of like whiney, LOL) Is doing very well. She is about 6 weeks or older. Yes i know about the wetting of the washcloth when they are younger to help them go.
She eats on her own. We have canned food with chunks that we cut up smaller, Or else we soak the crunchy food in water or broth for her. Plus give her water in the syringe to make sure she gets enough of it.
She loves to follow us around. We keep in a kennel at night and put her outside in the daytime. There are other kittens a little bigger out there for her to play with. Plus adult cats she can lay with etc. We keep hard cat food down alot thru the daytime and she attempts to eat it as well. Her mom comes up but for some reason she (winni) won't feed on her long. But she is healthy now so I guess that's whats important!

Sorry To Hear Of Your Sad Situation, My Son Found A Kitten On A Busy Country Road, It Was Lying On Its Stomach With Its Little Chin On The Road, Filled With Fear, It Was On The Yellow Line On This Road. Oppisite The Traffic Light, Was A Log Truck, When The Light Changed He Would Have Been A Gone Kitten. My Son Put On His Blinking Lights And Grabbed The Kitten Up Real Quick, Brought Him Home, About 5 Weeks Old Still On Formula. Had Him About 10 Days Now. He's Eating Kitten Chow, And He's Beautiful. Solid Gray, With Gray Eyes. How People Throw Away Pets, Is Beyond Me.
