I've always paid the tax--free or not.

so be it...

I just thought it was odd and since this has never happened to me before I thought that this is the way it was...

Or perhaps the policies have changed about the sales tax.

Who really knows especially when it comes to government.

I've noticed that here in Ohio I don't usually pay tax on free items. I use the Victoria's Secret free panty coupons all the time and always walk out owing nothing. Same with when I used those coupons from Coke last year where each coupon got you 5 free 2 liters of Coke products. I don't think I even paid tax on those.

It depends were I shop. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I just remember the ones that charge me (even when the coupon states they pay tax) and I don't go there again. Dog food coupons I always have to pay tax.

We wouldn't have to pay tax on any clothing or food items here but something like dog food we would. We aren't taxed on food or clothing but anything else we are.

Oh man, I WISH we didn't have to pay taxes on food! We are taxed to death here.

Ummmmmmm the business pays in the end as they have to pay taxes into the IRS and states sales taxes. So by not collecting sales tax the business losses.

The only time we get taxed on food is if we go out to eat. They have what they refer to as a Mass meal tax which is 5%.

Are you close enough to cross over in to Texas? No food taxes here either.
