Cable guy ....Long vent
The cable guy was late getting here by 2 hours so i called and complained and got a $25 credit on my sept bill. When he finally did show up i said as a joke wow did you get lost? He was like no ran into some problems on the last order. I was like oh no..red flag going up. So he walks in my back yard looking at what i have no clue, he was here to change my moms phone line to cable. Her line is in the house, my line is out side which i am keeping from at & t.
He said he needed to see the basement so i took him down there. He asked how many new box's we were getting i said 3. He asked why there were 4 wires then? I said i had no clue that , that's how cable did it the last time they were here. He went on to say well you have cable running to more places than you should and either i can cut them or i will turn you in for stealing. I said how can i be stealing if cable was the ones who put that little box up there with all the different cable wires? He go's well im going to cut them then, i was like what ever. Yep he cut them all right and one of them was for my internet. He asked if i had road runner i said yep i sure do and that little box is up in my room. Back down stairs he go's to re hook that cable line up. Then he claims to have my moms phone hooked up yet it don't work...an hour later the wall phone works but not the cordless. So he moves on to hooking up the hd cable box's. Calls in the code 3 times before they kick in. My mom's tv works fine, my daughters tv works fine. Mine nope i have no cable. Remember them lines he cut? Well one of them went to my tv. Then i catch him messing around with the phone lines in the basement that lead out side. I said don't you dare cut them phone lines. He just looked at me. I said 2 of them lines are mine but only one works. I told him i have my own ph line in this house and those are my wires don't touch. Well he still did some thing to them but at least my phone is still working. The a$$ was here 2 1/2 hours messed every thing up then asked me if i will be home tomorrow cuz time warner cable will be here between 1 & 3. I said yep i sure will be.I better get some thing free like no charge for the ass coming here, my mom's phone line & maybe free cable for 2 months. Im sure they now will have to go behind him and re fix every thing he cut. I really hate when they send these rent a cable ppl. Who ever comes tomorrow might not want to come back after i have a nice chat with them, and yep still will be calling cable on monday and having a nice chat with some one from there. The only thing that ass was to do was, change my moms phone line over, change out the cable box's & change one cable wire in my room cuz it has a short in it.. And no i still dont have cable in my room ![]() |

I am so sorry for you. I completely have been there done that. Hopefully they will get it fixed. I would call and report the idiot. You are much more kind then I am because the second he accused me of stealing, his butt would be out of my house. What an idiot. Hugs for such a stressful 2.5 hours.

Sorry about the mess up - we had a very similiar experience this week with Comcast. Our mess ended up getting us free installtion AND the first month ($150) free. They accidentally used a wireless PC card that we had purchased. We were returning it because it didn't work, and they found that out, took it, and replaced it with their own card.

Where do you live?
I am so sorry you had that experience. As it happens, I work for TWC in the dispatch department. Do you mind sharing what city, state you live in? I ask because I am in SC, in the Columbia area, and if you live in my region I may be able to get this resolved for you. I work very closely with the Supv. who is over all of our contractors and with your permission I'd be happy to look up your account, refer the installation to him and get everything fixed up for you. PM me back if you can so it will pop up immediately . I don't want to risk missing your reply if it's just in this thread.

So he gets that hooked up..then i tell him about the wire having a short so he looks at that and say's its not a short just that they have cable and my internet hooked together, so he changes all of that around & then go's up on the pole out side to have a look and say's every thing is done. Told him thanks and that i want it on my acct that they are never to send a rent a cable guy again , if i have to wait a month i will for a real cable guy. A few hours later my daughter comes home and say's mom i still cant get all the cable channels..then my mom says hay my wall phone dont work but the cordless does Get back on the phone with cable last night, tell them we still dont have a phone working, they would send some one out today , i said no rent a guy. So today i take him down in the basement he's looking around, the guy from sunday for got to hook the wall phone up..Ok got that working finally. Then my daughter was telling him about not getting all the channels. So up stairs they go to look in her room, and yes the cable for her room does have a short in it so he re place's that. It took 2 ppl to get things correct becuz the ass from saturday had no clue what the heck he was doing ??? I did call later on saturday and complained about what a sh$t job the first guy did and then to have the balls to say i was stealing cable, when i wasnt, 2nd guy even said i wasnt. I was told they would pass it on to the supv & i told them i would like to talk with him. Givng me sunday & today as free just isnt going to work. |

Wow.. I hope you get them! thats ridiculous.. I will have to say i havent had a bad experience with my cable comp yet. I dont like their prices, but other than that, they have always been helpful.
That first guy sounded like he was either stoned, or had definately lied on his application |

what a mess! I'm glad everything is working now for you but I would have been steaming mad if I had to go through all of that just b/c the first guy didn't know his butt from his head

Just be glad this guy isn't a surgeon! He'd probably have your intestines coming out of your ears....and then tell you that you have lousy plumbing.
I ran into a 9 month period of h3ll with my cable's internet. Amazing how easy it is for them to say that all the problems are mine and not theirs. After numerous phone calls (I even asked if they wanted to give me my own personal direct line to them since I had to call so often) and repair visits from everyone from the lowest repairmen to the head supervisors I go t one man who listened to me and then climbed the pole and replaces a rusty little thingy. I did get an apology and free months of internet service. I was also informed that these idiots were being sent back to ' repair school'. I did eventually go thru the corporate office when I wasn't getting anywhere with the people I had to deal with on the phone. If they had given me free service for life then I think I would have been satisfied. No amount of 'free' service could make up for all the time and aggravation that I had to endure for 9 months. As I said to the corporate rep "In the time it took your people to resolve this, I could have gotten pregnant and delivered a baby!". |
