I KNOW, we increased one medication and Jessie who has taken to sleeping on the pull out bed, urinated in it.
We are waiting to see the last 2 results of her testing, if it is Cancer or a non productive Auto Immune System that won't get better, I think he is leaning towards "putting her down".
I can't tell him what to do, but he admits this is the WORST feeling he has since since his Father died.
He has apolgized for his horrid behavior, he has been awfully mean, so I think that is the direction he is leaning, as Jessie is not really happy and is not the same dog and will not return to her self.
I hate this!

This was posted on the vets wall. When sister had to put her 11 1/2 year old beagle mix to sleep this made her feel much better. She held her in her arms and let her go to sleep. The last paragraph is what really got her.

Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirt with a stick, for though I should lick you hand between blows, your kindness and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me learn.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know for the fierce wagging of my tail when you footstep falls upon my waiting ear.

Please take me inside when it's cold and wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilage of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot tell you when i suffer thirst.

Feed me clean food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And, my friend, when I am very old and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun. Please see that my trusting life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands.

I am in tears.
I am going to print this and keep it safe to my heart.
Thank you for wonderful words.
When and if we get to the point of Jessie's path in life, I will be reminded of just thoughtful and fair words, because she can't speak, and if she could, she would say this, or close.

It gave my sister a lot of comfort. I was in tears when I typed it up the first time. So know how you feel.

I can't figure out why a University Vet Hospital can't figure out already what is wrong with the dog. I know a few vets here that would have already given a diagnosis and they don't have all the fancy equipment that a university does. Maybe you should seek a second opinion.
