My property taxes are $300 a year. The taxes and my home owners insurance are paid out of my Escrow account which I pay a little into each month so there is no way of being late.

My property taxes are so low because I live outside the city limits.

We didn't want our taxes included in escrow... nor our insurance, we just pay all that on our own.

Anyways, just last week I filled out our personal property tax form, and sent it in, that means our 2008-2009 personal property and real estate taxes are about due, we'll get the due notices in a few weeks... our personal property are always around $250 for both vehicles, and the real estate are around $450.00 (unless they have went up again, won't know until we get the bill), that's $700.00 due in August... and, our vehicle insurance and homeowners insurance is all due August 22, that's $300 for the house, and, $900 for the year for the two vehicles, so that's another $1200.00... that's $1900.00 due in August... plus all the 'regular' stuff, like house and truck payment.

It's been that way for 20 years, as of September this year, we have been in this house for 20 years.

Oh yea.... had to pay $6.00 for the dog tags too ! Aww, he's worth it I guess.

Wow big congrats on keeping the house that long! Its especially hard when you pay for that stuff on your own, many people dont save for it and then get totally screwed when its due.

TY ! Trust me, in the early days, there were hard times ! One year, we had a huge yard sale, and made around $400 in two days...lol, just the extra we needed to pay the bills in August.

As for our house, we had a good fixed rate for 1988 (6.9%), had a decent down payment, so, the payment never changed. Back in 2001, I refinanced the house, got almost 2% less on the interest (5¼%), got an extra $14,000 and bought a new car... and ended up with the same house payment ! (well, it was like $2.00 more a month) By doing that, the money we got for the car was at the 5¼ rate ! It's all good...

How about $6,000 for property taxes? That's what we pay each year (thank goodness it is still a deduction). The taxes are due in two installments and they are always due the same days every year. We do have an escrow account and I wouldn't have it any other way. Oh...I live in S. California.

Try paying $5600 a year. Holy EEEK! I hate our tax system. It's fight, fight, fight every year. It kills me because there is so much waste in our local government. Not to mention the corrupt Illinois state government. Ahh, I can't think about it. It makes me crazy.

$300 a year!!!! Mine just went UP $300 a year!! I am now going tp pay @$2,500 a year.
I've been in my home for 28 years & the due date for both set of taxes is always around the same date.
I have never heard of any tax collector taking debit or credit cards. It will be interesting seeing you try to pay your taxes next year in change. I will bet you a $ that you will be making a quick dash to CoinStar.
I HATE TAXES!!!!
